Colchester: Why don't republicans blame Bush for anything over the past 8 years but blame Obama for everything now?
Republicans always have their Karl Rove or Rush Limbaugh spin about George Bush on things like his handling of the Iraq War, Hurricane Katrina, and the MASSIVE federal deficit. They don't think these things were all his fault. They were just bad luck and congress messed it up for him. Otherwise he was a great president. So they don't hold Bush responsible for anything over his whole presidency, but they hold Obama responsible for the stock market when he has not even stepped into the white house. And now their programmed response to this question will be, you do not understand the stock market, Obama's IDEAS of raising taxes causes the stock market to f...

Colchester: Can you purchase a home for under value, but get a mortgage for the actual value?
I am looking to be a first time home buyer, but have a decent amount of credit card debt. I have a 730 credit rating and a solid job. In this economy it is very possible to find a home for under market value. I am trying to find out if it is possible to still get the mortgage up to the market value of the home and then pay off my debt with the difference. Then would it be possible to immediately refinance?...

Colchester: Is this the real war in the middle east ?
Halliburton’s $2.5 billion no-bid Restore Iraqi Oil (RIO) contract[24] was supposed to pay for itself as well as reconstruction of the entire country. Had the contract been fulfilled correctly, Iraq would be able to export much more oil from its northern oil fields. Instead, the oil fields are barely usable and access to international markets is severely limited. Halliburton’s work on the pipeline crossing the Tigris river at Al Fatah was a critical failure. Against the advice of its own experts, Halliburton tried to dig a tunnel through a geological fault zone. The underground terrain was a jumble of boulders, voids, cobblestones and gravel impossible for the kind of drillin...

Colchester: Very hard math problem?
Joan McKee has a part-time job conducting public opinion interviews. She has found that a political interview takes 45 min and a market interview takes 55 min. She needs to minimize the time she spends doing interviews to allow more time for her full-time job. Unfortunately, to keep her part-time job, she must complete at least 8 interviews each week. Also, she must earn at least $60 per week at this job; she earns $8 for each political interview and $10 for each market interview. Finally, to stay in good standing with her supervisor, she must earn at least 40 bonus points per week; she receives 6 bonus points for each political interview and 5 points for each market interview. H...

Colchester: What's going on with congress and why does everyone think they are illegible for a bail out?
I mean everyone says we had to bail out these banks or there is going to be a big financial melt down, but I still see the market falling. These rich CEO's are getting paid so much, and get to keep their jobs, while the American tax payer foots their bill. Is that the way of it? Three automaker CEO's fly to Washington in a private jet ( that averages tens of thousands of dollars a year) and they are lining up to get a bail out they are gonna fuel their lavage lifestyles. When does the buck stop? I mean I could understand people were going to lose their jobs, but that's capitalism. There is NO bailing people out. Unless they bail out the middle class too. That bail out obvio...

Colchester: Taxes for Clueless Independent Contractor?
I have been working as an Independent Contractor for my employer as of 9/11/08. I didn't have a paycheck by the 9/15 so I will be paying my income from 9/11 on by the 01/15/09 quarterly pay date for small businesses. By the end of the year I will have earned about $7,400 from this job. The only deduction I have is about $50 for transportation. I also held another job earlier in the year from which I earned about $700. Social Security and Medicare were witheld, but not income tax. Altogether I will have earned under the $8,200 limit for the entire year of 2008. What I am unsure of is if I still need to pay income tax. My quarterly earnings are such that I would have earned a taxab...
