Colchester: When is a person technically hired?
I know someone who applied for a job, interviewed, then got offered the job. They accepted, filled out their paperwork (W2, I9, signed what they were expected to do, ect). They told him when he would start training, and then callled him three days before he was supposed to go to training and said they were doing a hiring freeze so they couldn't send him to training and would call him to continue the process after the freeze was over.
It seemed odd to me because I thought he was already hired so it shouldn't effect him...
thanks for your help... 20 Nov 08, 08:11:52
Colchester: What are all of the breeds of dogs that could be a service dog for anybody with a disability? ?
Members of the Armed Forces came home, injured, and they had a program for them. They gave them service dogs to help them. They were interviewing the soldiers and showing them with their new best friends. I was in tears and am again, as I type this! It's such a nice story...I love how smart and lovable dogs could be! I respect and care about our soldiers, I'm really happy they have these dogs for them!
I was wondering what breeds of dogs do they use for this particular job?... 20 Nov 08, 08:11:52
Colchester: If a company lists very few benefits under a job description, can I assume it's probably a small company?
I am interviewing for an entry-level position at a staffing company next week, and am trying to figure out the size of the company (to decide if I should wear an actual suit or not, although I might do it anyway). I haven't found too much about the company on the internet, but in the job description it only lists Sick leave and vacation under the benefits, no retirement plans etc. Is it more than likely a smaller company?
I don't want to look silly wearing a nice skirt suit and dressing formally and then walk into a small office where everyone is in jeans (not that I would ever wear jeans to an interview). I know it's better to dress up than down, b... 20 Nov 08, 07:11:06
Colchester: When Is The Right Time to Call A Potential Employer In Regards to a Job Interview?
Particularly if it is for a job that you love.
What would you do if you had already contacted your boss-to-be early in the week (asking when I would hear back from - if your successful)
If they don't intiate the call, when is an ideal time call?
I'm the first qualified person to apply in the 3 weeks its been advertised, they are looking for 3 qualified positions, in there 3 stores, I'm really excited as its my dream career and the delay is odd. I do know one thing, that they are very busy on the day I was having my interview, either that, or they don't know how to break the news to me. I did ask if I had a high chance of being employed and they said yes, I'm ge... 20 Nov 08, 07:11:32
Colchester: Are there any jobs left in mid-Michigan?

Colchester: How will I get paid if I get the job through a recruiter?
I spoke to a recruiter on the phone (never met him in person and never signed anything) who said that I could have an interview today with a company that is looking to fill a position. I show up at the interview and get the job. The recruiter then sends me an e-mail with 11 documents attached. I am looking at them carefully because now I am starting to think if this is a scam or not. Some of the documents he sent are W-4 form, I-9 form, time sheets, and benefits waiver form for assigned employees that mentions I am solely an employee of the recruiting company blah blah I hereby expressly waive any claim or right that I may have with the company I will work at, now or in the future, to such b... 20 Nov 08, 05:11:48
Colchester: How exactly are Obama's tax cuts for the middle class going to grow the economy when Bush's Stimulus didn't?
Both operate on the same principle, give a few hundred bucks to the folks and they will spend us out of a recession. Well, it didn't work for Bush, does the economy look stimulated to you? What makes you think that an annual stimulus package, which is what Obama is planning on creating, is going to grow the economy at all. Consumer spending doesn't grow the economy, it moves the economy. Capital investment grows the economy by creating jobs and additional wealth, and this is kind of activity Obama is planning on PUNISHING.
Even Obama admitted that raising capital gains taxes is going to not only hurt the economy, but will reduce income to the federal government as well during... 20 Nov 08, 05:11:50
Colchester: Do all bosses act like that with employers?
I was hired to a job like two days ago. there are mostly males working. it is a job related with computers and technology. the manager is so weird, i think. when i had the interview, he said that i will check whether the printers have paper, answer the phones and email. when i started the training, they actually make me to program the computers, and make computer( put the parts together). I feel so dumb because i dont know how to do that. and today, he was talking to the guy that teaches me how to do that. we were standing like one foot away from each other. and the manager is like tell her to check the voice mail. come on? i was there like a foot away listening and he couldnt tell me that? ... 20 Nov 08, 05:11:34
