Canterbury: I was an expat working in Asia, I lost my job and moved back to US can I file for unemployment?
I am a US citizen - I worked for a bank in the US for a few years and then I transferred to the Asian division. I have been laid off and moved back to the US. Am I eligible for Unemployment? My local state unemployment office in New York says no because while abroad I paid Federal but not State Taxes - I was paid from the asian funds of the of the bank. Is there anything I can do? I own an apartment in New York and paid the property taxes and also taxes on the income from subleting, but was not required to pay state taxes and employer did not pay Unemployment insurance on me once I moved 3 years ago, prior to the transfer they did....

Canterbury: Can GOD order the death of yourself, or any of your family members any time He wants, and is this OK with YOU?
Those who have not read my recent question: What is the value of having Jesus manifest to you, and what do you have to do to make him certainly manifest? might want to copy and paste it verbatim and put it in the search window to find it. EXACTLY what I was warning my people about has come to pass! JOB 13:15. 15. Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him: but I will maintain mine own ways before Him. THE SORT OF LIVES we Human beings lead are pitiful and pathetic. Even those wealthy in the top 1% are cheated out of what they OUGHT to have as Humans- the luxuries and pleasures they enjoy are brutally taken from them just as they begin to learn to appreciat...

Canterbury: Why couldn't America and Americans for that matter ?
Choose two better people for the recent election. I love America and Americans and will always grateful for what they have done in trying to keep the world safe and for all the aid they send abroad all the time with hardly any thanks, but the one candidate was too old at 72 and the Other was too unproven and inexperienced for the job McCain has the track record but at 72 any fool could have told the Republicans that at 72 he would not pull the young vote. Then the other one Obama I wouldn't put him in charge of a tea party, so whats happening to America and Americans if out of your population that's the best two people you can come up with, this is puzzling me and I can't figu...

Canterbury: Unwanted attention..help!?
I work at a food stand and this guy who works at the toy store in the next building came once. He started the conversation because he noticed I was new. That was my first time meeting him. And on Monday he came again and he suddenly out of nowhere asks if I like coffee or tea...I said I am almost always working and when Im not at work I usually go to the city with my friends (all true). But he wouldnt let it go and asked me for a date I was available I didnt give him one and he left with his food. He came again yesterday and he asked if I wanted to have the tea (we serve free tea) and I just froze up and he said oh remember yesterday? oh it was a joke right? and I thought he got ...

Canterbury: How has industry/employment changed in your home town/city?
I have been thinking this morning about the changing nature of industry/employment in the UK. Obviously we have gone from a heavy industry/manufacturing economy to a service based economy. I was interested in the context of how industry your town/city has changed from when you were younger. Do you live in an ex-industrial area which now has limited/poor jobs and vast social problems? Has heavy industry been replaced by high-tech factories (most of which have also now closed to ending of grants and competition from abroad) Perhaps you live in a commuter town in the south east which has always had lots of people working in London, but even such towns as this used to have quite varied...

Canterbury: When I graduate should I get a job or travel?
I'm graduating a year early (yay!!!) from college this spring. I've already had an internship in DC and studied abroad for a semester in Morocco. Should I try to get a job right away after I graduate? I was thinking of traveling abroad, maybe to Nepal to either intern with an NGO or do some volunteer work for the summer. I know now would be the best time to do it, since I'm not tied down with school or a job, but considering the economy and the scarcity of jobs right now, should I be realistic and just get a job? Or would another internship or volunteering make me more competitive when I do apply for a job? Your opinion is appreciated, thanks....
