Canada: I need some Temporary Job Advice (business related)?
I'm a college graduate with a bachelors and some sales/office jobs experience. I want to work in the marketing field but am having lots of trouble finding internships or entry level jobs in this field. That being said, i wanted to improve my resume with a temporary job. I've got an interview with waddell and reed for a financial advisor position and I'm also applying to AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Which of these jobs would look better on my resume for a marketing job? I really don't want to sell insurance (is this a bad time b/c of the economy?). I would rather sell products which i have some interest/familiarity in such as cell phones but if one will help me more in t... 03 Dec 08, 11:12:52

Canada: Human Resource Contact at Netflix in Columbus Ohio?
I have recently applied for a position at Netflix in Columbus for their I.T. operations. I am really bent on doing all I can to get this position and have been scouring the internet for some human resources or employment manager contact so that I can ask them about the status of the position, if I can get an interview etc.
Does anybody have such information, or advice on obtaining such information? How about advice or ancedotes of what YOU have done to get a job in the I.T. industry, period.
Thanks.... 03 Dec 08, 02:12:35
Canada: Advice on a bad background investigator please...?
Ok here's the deal. I've posted before at the disappointment I've discovered with law enforcement hiring practices but I figured one more try couldn't hurt. My final attempt at this field is with a metro type police job and here's what happened. Passed the civil, oral, poly, and waiting on the background. The first parts took under a week. The site for the department clearly states 8-12 week process to hire. I took the civil service test August 1st... I feel my background investigator is botching this last chance for me in this area and here's why.
More then a month after the initial testing I finally receive one call from him and he tells me it's started ... 03 Dec 08, 08:12:53
Canada: Can an employer hire you and then reject you the next day?
I had an interview on Monday for a company. I was offered the position with demands. The company told me they would hire me only if I was able to start Wednesday and if I didn't report on Wednesday that I wouldn't have the job. I definitely accepted the position. Now this was very crucial to me because I am in the process of relocating to another state. The interview/job was in the state I was relocating to. I already resigned from my other job and have my stuff shipped to the state I am moving to. I get a call the following day from the job telling me that they could not hire because there is a freeze on hiring. They did inform me that when the freeze is over that they will... 03 Dec 08, 05:12:36

Canada: How many times do I follow up? ?
Quick story: I interviewed twice for a job I applied for. The second interview was exactly two weeks ago. Last Tuesday they called my references. I called last Wednesday to follow up and he said he'd call me early this week. It's now almost Wednesday and I haven't heard anything.
Do I continue to follow up? Email? Call? Go see him? He is supposed to call me either way (even if I don't get the job). I am anxious because I know they called my references (and I know they said good things) and I'm not sure what the hold up is. Should I email him and see what's going on, or call him again later this week?
Advice?... 02 Dec 08, 11:12:05
Canada: Interview Questions... ADVICE PLEASE!?
I am currently looking for a new job because my manager and I do not get a long and I am not grooving with the company all together. When asked in an interview Why are you looking for a new job? I can't just say I don't like my manager because then they will think I don't get a long with anybody. Which isn't the case, because noone at my current position gets along with the manager. Any advice on how to handle those types of interview questions without losing my professionalism? Thanks!!... 02 Dec 08, 09:12:56
Canada: Possible Medical receptionist job Question?!?
Hey all, i have an unusual situation. I was looking for a medical receptionist job, so i posted my resume on a site. So, today someone called me from a medical office and said that they are interested in having me work with them. So, this is unusual because instead of an interview they want me to go over there tommorow for the whole day and help them out in the front office. They said that tommorow evening they will see and judge i guess if they will hire me as a medical receptionist or a medical assistant. So, i am very excited about this but also Super scared. That is because I have never tried to work in a medical office and i don't know the first thing about working there.
So, plea... 02 Dec 08, 09:12:07
