Canada: Which sector of IT would be most suited to me?
I have about 2 years worth of IT helpdesk support experience on both the software and hardware sides, and I'm looking to change sectors within IT as I'm not enjoying the helpdesk side at all - not enough training, hands-on experience, job satisfaction answering all calls all day etc.
What I would like to know is, what other areas within the IT employment sector are open to me and which areas are the best to get into in terms of the current IT climate, job satisfaction and career prospects?
I have done a degree in electronic/ computer engineering, so I have done some C++ programming although I was never great at it.
Can someone advise me on what to do?
Thanks!... 03 Dec 08, 10:12:22

Canada: When will we start drug testing senior executives?
It seems like most of the jobs that drug test you are the ones where you've constantly got people riding your ass. Just once I'd like to see one of these guys that has to shower before work instead of after get drug tested. How bad to they have to mess up before we require pre employment drug testing for everyone?... 03 Dec 08, 09:12:13
Canada: False record on file at the Clerk of Courts has costed me employment opportunities, do I have any recoarse?
I had a Domestic Violence charge back in 2001 that was reduced to a disorderly conduct, minor misdemeanor. I did not know until now that I had a record on file for the world to see until I needed to get a job. I have been turned down and lost job opportunities for the last year and have now lost my home to bankruptcy since I could not gain employment due to this record on file that is incorrect. The record on file says I was charged with a minor misdemeanor for Domestic Violence / Assualt when it actually should depict the true charge of disorderly conduct, minor misdemeanor. My question here is...Can I sue the Clerk of Courts for filing a wrongful conviction that has cost me everything? ... 03 Dec 08, 09:12:19
Canada: can anyone translate into spanish?
This week, we find out about an interesting challenge to an employment law in South Korea. The law was passed in 1963 and stops people who aren't blind from taking jobs as massage therapists. Is this law absolutely crucial to one group of people whilst being unfair to others? Yvonne Archer is joined by William Kremer as she looks at a very difficult issue.... 03 Dec 08, 07:12:56
Canada: Jobs for Americans in Turkey? Antalya, Adana?
Hi,
My fiance and I are considering moving to Turkey (his home country) for a few years, but I am concerned about the level of employment available to someone like me.
I do not have a college degree (never finished), but am a professional and work in a very specific field, HIV/AIDS Services. I love the work I do, but would be willing to go another route with my administrative skills for the short term.
I have some done some browsing of employment opportunities, but most seem to be sales or teaching English (which I do not have the qualifications for). My Turkish is limited, with being able to understand more than able to speak.
Any suggestions?
Also, I have 2 children and my... 03 Dec 08, 07:12:28

Canada: Would you relocate to El Paso, TX?
My job was eliminated, and no one is hiring in my field where I currently live. My former company has offered me a potential position in El Paso. Actually, I would be working in Juarez, but live in El Paso.
Is El Paso a stereotypical dirty border town? Are there any good places to live where I can find good schools and daycare facilities, safe neighborhoods, and employment options for my wife - all within a manageable daily commute to Juarez?
Also, I am not bilingual, will this be a problem in El Paso or Juarez?
I'm thinking I'd rather stay unemployed, but perhaps your information can help change my mind!... 03 Dec 08, 05:12:40
