Brighton: Need to purchase a mac-book laptop 13 or mac-book pro 15 , which one will be best for usage and portability?
I wish to purchase either a macbook laptop (13 ) or macbook pro laptop (15 ). I was a graphic design student and am now looking for a graphic design job. I need to run mainly the following packages: Adobe Creative Suite (don't need to do any video editing). I have never had a mac or laptop before so I need something that i will enjoy in terms of portability and ease of use in terms of screen size. The specs on both these are similar. Both have 2gb ddr3 memory, 250 hard drive, and though the 15 has a better graphics card, the 13 macbook's graphics card is ok too. These are the new models on the official apple website. Please advise on best value for money in ...

Brighton: graphic designer here needs help with client?
i designed a business card for my client. i was asking for $25, but they insisted that I lower it to $20 so, I was fine with that and accepted, but now they want me to create a website banner and said it in such a way (well emailed it) that I believe they think I can do it for free.. I'd feel bad If I said no, but I cant do that for free. I have 4 other jobs in the process (1 website, 1 web ad, and another banner)... what should i do? should i charge them? if so, how much? they seem to not want to pay much to begin with.. I've been in the field for 4 years. I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I am definitely over the beginner mark. I charge my clients based on age ...

Brighton: What the Eff? Can I sue?
Ok, so I had an interview with a gay who owns his own company with his brother in law last night. I found this place through a staffing firm, and the recruiter informed me that he only wanted to see me out of all the other applicants because I was the only one with office and Graphic Design experience. The night before the interview, the owner e-mailed me and asked to bring my laptop. I never told him or the recruiter that I had one, so I let him know that. However, I told him that there was a chance that I could cart my desktop around if it didn't rain. He responded with Desktop would be good. If you can't bring it, that's ok, we will talk about that later . Cool. ...

Brighton: advertising and graphic design degrees in Miami?
I have an Associate of Science in Graphic Design which basically taught me all I really need to know with the programs used in Design. I got lucky and managed to land a job as a graphic/web assistant for an online curriculum publisher. However I want to get a bachelors and the only place I can afford is FIU and the closest thing to Graphic Design they have is Advertising. What can I do with an advertising degree and Graphic design experience? Especially here in Miami? Would it be better to get a bachelors in something else? Like Hospitality Management? I do live in Miami and that is a good business here in case I can't find work in design afterward. HELP! Any opinions or...

Brighton: Good freelance web design sites?
I have been doing freelance web and graphic design for the past three years aside from my full time job. Most of my jobs have been found through word of mouth, businesses go to the college and, when I attended there, I was notified when a business needed a website and I would complete the task. Now I have graduated, have my Graphic Design degree and Web design and authoring certificate, and my goal is to move into freelance work full time. I have an online portfolio website. How can I achieve this? What are good websites where businesses can go to post jobs for freelance designers? How else can I get my name out there?...
