Bournemouth: I'm fed up with my job!?
Hi everyone, i need help with this. I'm currently working in a Library and it's killing me! You rarely see people coming in except for the small amount of students that actually use the library and maybe some people that work here... (the average is like 3-4 people a day, sometimes less or none) and I have no colleagues :( I'm always alone and I can't talk to anyone. I really wish to quit my job but we've got a problem here and it's really difficult/impossible to find another job, and if i do find a job you've to start everything from the beginning... and at the moment we're searchin for a house so that leave no choice... This job thing is changing m... 08 Jan 09, 08:01:44
Bournemouth: When I'm old enough, can I get a job at my library, and what would I do?
In Australia
I'm a library assitant at my school, so I can shelve
And I also do circulation at the desk and check things out [though I'm fairly sure they use a different system than mine]
When I'm 14 and 9 months Can I get a job at my local library? What would I do, mostly? How much would I get paid [minimum wage, right?]
Thank youi!... 08 Jan 09, 06:01:38
Bournemouth: What did your library skills test include?
I realize every library is different, but I'm applying for several positions at the library and was wondering what kind of questions are involved. It looks like my local library's skill test only involves a test over shelving according to the Dewey Decimal System. I was wondering if those of you who work or worked in a library had to take tests over any other material, and if you had any tips other than reviewing the Dewey Decimal System. It sounds like it's mostly common sense, just like the filing test I had to take for a previous job, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask.
It looks like the only two positions I'm applying for that require a skills test are Shelv... 08 Jan 09, 05:01:54
Bournemouth: Should I become a librarian?
I work in publishing in a big city right now, but I really want to move back home, where publishing is pretty much nonexistent. An alternate career that interests me is being a librarian-- a children's librarian. I LOVE reading, children's lit,and interacting with kids. I volunteer at a children's room in a public library right now,and I really like the environment. The head librarian's job seems really fun and laid back.
BUT, I've heard that librarians have to love working with people and must be very tech savvy. I'm an extremely shy person, and I often can't seem to think or express myself clearly when I'm trying to help someone out-- I get so ner... 08 Jan 09, 04:01:10

Bournemouth: Any tips on reducing living expenses?
Like many people, I'm trying to reduce spending and save more money. Here's some of the steps I'm thinking of taking:
1) Drink tap water instead of expensive sodas and bottled water
2) Buy only generic brand groceries and use coupons (though it looks like the cheaper the food, the less healthy it is)
3) Drop my cable (which I rarely watch beyond CNN). I could get a small digital TV. If something major happens, the networks will interrupt the programming to announce it
4) Drop my internet, although it's very convenient for many things.I could use the local library's internet access, though there's usually a wait
5) Check out books and DVDs from the librar... 07 Jan 09, 10:01:49

Bournemouth: Sonicstage Alternative?
I've got a NWA a806, the first edition of the video walkmans.
You can't use drag and drop or wmp to sync music to it, only sonicstage, but sonicstage has gone wrong so is there anything else that will do the job?
Actually, if u no why sonicstage isn't working that would be even better, basically i can't add mucis to the library, when i either drag and drop or add through the browse function,it just freezes when it should show importing ... 07 Jan 09, 03:01:57
