Ayr: How to get a job with only so many available hours?
I'm in a horrible situation right now - I just had to quit my last job because of a crazy boss and, of course, with the way the economy is no one is hiring. At all. I'm going back out tomorrow to job-hunt for like, the 3rd time but I would like some advice. Here's the deal: I have plenty of job experience. Worked 6 months in a food place (Coldstone) and 3 months at a daycare. I DO still hold my pride heavy and refuse to resort to a McDonalds or Burger King, but I suppose any other place I'll take. Unlike at the daycare though, I'm back to living on my parent's schedule and can only work 4 pm to 9 pm during weekdays, but anytime during weekends. (They drive me...

Ayr: How can I become more articulate?
I've never been good at expressing myself well verbally. My first language is English. I was born and bred here but when I speak, I sometimes really stumble over my words and it gets very embarrassing when I'm trying to express my opinion but can't find the words to do so. You might expect that to be the case for a foreign speaker but isn't this a little strange for a native English speaker? I also have very very poor concentration. I find it very hard to hold my attention whilst listening to people, however I find reading a lot easier. Even when I watch films I have to try very hard to concentrate because my mind often wanders. I try to read every day for at least ...

Ayr: Is it ok to thank someone for an interview in person?
I was thinking of going back to the clothing store I interviewed with tomorrow and asking for the person that interviewed me and just say something like Hi I just wanted to say thank you for the interview and let you know I'm still very interested in the job. Would that be ok to do? Or should I make a thank you note? And what should said note say and how would I deliver it to them? I have no experience with this job hunting stuff so please help me haha :) Thanks for any help! :)...

Ayr: Is it rude to tell people in my class that their Resume is poor?
I teach business classes for Adult Education. In one of my classes I help people with job hunting and review their Resumes. I can not believe how terrible their Resumes are. When people submit their Resume to me for my review it seems like they are getting worse and worse each class. This in an era of downsizing, 100s of applicants for jobs and a deep economic recession. Would it be rude to be honest with the people and tell them their Resume is really- really- really poor? Or should I be polite and not tell them the real truth. (I am afraid if I Sugar coat the truth in nice manners I will not send them the message that their document needs serious work.)...

Ayr: How is your Resume? (is it State of the Art?)?
I teach a business class in Adult Education that helps people with their job hunting and career skills. I ask everyone to bring a copy of their Resume for me to look at and I give feedback. Almost without exception, the resumes submitted are really poor. Poor layout, lack of buzz words related to their career and terrible grammar and sentence structure. In today's terrible economy why would any one have a poor resume? The competition is fierce and it is only getting worse. How is your Resume? What have you done to make it the best it can be?...
