Ayr: Do you know people like this at your job?
People that could do only one thing. You know like the snow monster in Rudolph the red nose reindeer that has a single job putting the star on the tree. Yet the management does not see it ,so you always have to take up that persons slack as well to get the job done. How many of you know what I mean? Are there people like this at your employment?...

Ayr: labor issues:If you get paid salary biweekly, does your last check include 2 weeks if you were fired on a Mon?
My boyfriend gets paid salary wages every 2 weeks. His boss terminated his employment on a Monday. Now, I work for this guy too & he told me to shred my bf's last check because he is going to have a new check made up that reflects my bf working the last week and the Monday which he was fired. Is this legal if he has been receiving salary pay? Also, my bf was told to come back that same week, Wednesday & did some jobs for his boss. My bf never even took a vacation during his employment (2 years). I think my boss is taking advantage of him......

Ayr: Are greedy unions causing themselves to die out?
Is this a sort of economic Darwinism? Unions demand so much money from their employers that the companies go under. If the union doesn't adapt it dies out and take it's captive companies with it. This question is in response to someone who thought the unions can do no wrong and that if the companies should go under, all the blame lies with the management, none with the union. I guess he's never ran a business and had people he depended on not show up for work. Don't get me wrong. I'm not totally anti-union despite being royally screwed years ago by the Carpenters Local. Many unions provide a valuable service representing their workers, providing health and re...

Ayr: I need advice....spiritual advice...?
I know it's kinda long and I am sorry for it... I'm in spiritual turmoil here... This is my situation... I invited a family to live in my house so that they can get on their feet. The man was a bit deceptive about his situation...he didn't tell me the whole story until after he had moved in (in regards to recent marijuana use--which hurts his chances at certain employment; as well as a criminal record...and he is a smoker...who feels that it is a human right to smoke even though he doesn't have money to feed his family)...his fiancee and 17 month old daughter are also living here with him. He just got a 40-hour-a-week, $8/hour job...and has told...

Ayr: Pre-Employment Background check and under the table job.....?
Hello, I was just offered a very nice job working for a Telecom company baring a drug screening and background check. My most recent employer was a friend of my fathers and he paid me under the table for the 6 months I worked for him. I did not disclose this on my application (because it was not asked). The background check company says that it verifies employment/education/criminal history etc... Am i gonna be OK?? If they call my former boss he will totally vouch for me, but i am still very worried as this job pays nearly twice what every other job I am looking at right now does. Please let me know what you think....
