Ayr: HELP! Don't know what to do w/ my life (long but help is appreciated as much as hookers appreciate penicillin)?
I'm 21 and having a hard time figuring out what career I want to pursue. It's about time I finally select my major. I need a job that's different everyday since I get bored easily and want to learn about/do everything. The things I've seriously considered are nursing, graphic design, engineering, plastic surgeon, crime scene investigator, physical therapist, construction management, hospitality, zoologist, marine biologist....so as you can see I'm all over the place. What's really appealing to me right now is investigative reporting since there's so much potential for variety--but it looks like they don't make much money.
My strong points are writin... 04 Dec 08, 09:12:52

I'm looking to have small jobs done, like making schematics or converting schematics into PCB artwork. I love rentacoder, but it looks like it's only for software and graphics design.... 04 Dec 08, 09:12:59
Ayr: Thinking about a Career in Design?
I love art, and always have. Both my parents have jobs in the art side of things, architechure, product design, and it has always appealed to me.
Now that I am doing my standard grades, I would like to look at types of design.
What types of design are there???
I know the general, like fashion design, and interior design, both which i like the sound of, but I feel are to general and do not always pay well ( soz).
Any kind of interesting design type job??
Thanks.... 04 Dec 08, 08:12:43
Ayr: I love architecture, but...?
I love architecture, but i hate hate hate the construction. I mean i like it but its so much information i cant seem to grasp, maybe because im so new to architecture and every aspect of it.
Anyways i love designing floor plans and doing 3d models and i enjoy working on making tiny models :] they make me feel as if im in my own world.
Anyways I hate the rest of the stuff that comes along with it.
So what kinds of jobs can i be looking for in the future?
or is there a job title for that?
Keep in mind im very new to the architecture field and know almost nothing. :(... 04 Dec 08, 06:12:51

Ayr: I need your help with my career. Plz help me with your suggestions.?
I have always written and asked about your opinions whenever I was at a career crossroad.
I have a BS in Liberal Studies and I am doing a certificate in HR at Baruch college. I have noticed that I am not interested in HR, its very dry and I dont know if I will be completing the certificate as I have taken just one class out of 7 so far.
Also, my interests seem to have now switched to 3 things. I know please bear with me like you always have:-)
1) I feel I should take the GMAT/GRE in order to enroll in either an MBA or a Ms IN Journalism. Which of the two, again I cannot decide.
2) I love to write but I can write mostly about fashion and style and I want to know if YOU think I can m... 04 Dec 08, 05:12:25

Ayr: When to do the two weeks notice?
Okay, I just got offer from a new job, eventhough it is sesonal at Macys. But it relate to my major, since soon or later I will have to quit my job at Rice since I will have to start working on my internship next month on January. And after thinking for a day, I think i should take the new job eventhough it will be seasonal, but I will get to learn all the valuable experience at Macy, since my major is fashion design.
My current job at Rice Epicurean Market is just a food place and I'm just a part time there. Anyways, I've working there for 2 months now, and i'm on 90 days new hire probation, so far I've complete only 65 days. I guess you can say that I like the job, b... 04 Dec 08, 03:12:18
Ayr: Is anyone else out there bored with their job?
I have trained for approx. 7 years to be a Mechanical Design Engineer in Norfolk England and apart from being made redundant 4 times now find myself in engineering jobs which are or after sometime become boring as hell. I find myself doing the same old shit day in day out and when things are slow find myself putting 315 sheets of A4 paper back to back in plastic pockets for shitty machine manuals. Times the way they are at the moment perhaps I should be happy to have a job, but bollox. Anyone else out there bored in their jobs. Was your job what you thought it was? What do you do and what would you like to do if you could turn back time?... 04 Dec 08, 03:12:45
