Designing Engineer DGNE

Knowledge & Experience
Familiarity with body vehicle structures.
Knowledge of press tools and sheet metal pressings - body panel fabrication techniques.
Knowledge of body construction techniques.
Ability to read and understand Body in White drawings.
Proven design experience with Unigraphics CAD and GMiMAN.
Experience in Parametric modelling and Surfacing techniques preferred.
German language ability would be an advantage.
Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
Basic Functions:
Propose design and integrate new body features into vehicles.
Provide technical design support and vehicle body and structural knowledge to assist in resolving project, manufacturing and quality issues.
Evaluate and propose new concepts, systems and methods to the group.
Prepare and release component drawings, assemblies and DMU's as required
Responsible for construction and maintenance of VEC DMU's and data management
Primary Responsibilities:
Design of vehicle components and/ or subsystems
Develop engineering solutions for vehicle components and/ or subsystems in close co-operation with the design release engineer.
Considering the following aspects: Design criteria, cost, quality, mass, package, timing, DFA, FMEA, manufacturability, Styling, Lessons Learned, technical innovation, serviceability, etc.
Define design details and alternatives using hand sketches and CAD.
Prepare design alternatives for evaluation and analysis to select best solution
Analyze and revise designs if test/manufacturing /field problem is shown in test reports or PRTS+ system
Create 3D-geometry and generate drawing following the release and change processes
Create 3D-geometry of component/ subsystem using UG in GMIMAN
Generate drawing including Dimensioning, Tolerancing and KPCs as required by program timing and following the release process
Change drawing following the change process at disposition of the design release engineer
Coordinate design with internal / external customers and suppliers
Analyze and consider all component/subsystem requirements (Component Technical Specification - CTS, Sub System Technical Specification - SSTS)
Negotiate major system technical.
Additional tasks (depending on area)
Perform or initiate and assess simulation
Support Internal and External Product Investigations
