Salary guideline range £45-50,000
We are a recruitment agency and we are currently looking for a skilled and experienced Cost Analyst for our client based in the Swindon area.
The Cost Analyst
The Accounting & Finance Department has responsibility for managing all aspects of the client's Cost & Profitability. The Department is split into 3 key areas, as follows:
Operations
Responsible for day to day accounting operations, including processing all invoices, expenses & payments
Management Accounting
Responsible for all aspects of management accounting, including month end accounting, management reporting, budgeting & forecasting, mid-term planning and providing expert support to the business for all cost related activities.
Areas covered are product pricing, cost accounting, in-house cost management, investment appraisal & asset management, inventory management and warranty costing)
Financial Accounting
Responsible for all aspects of financial governance & compliance and internal & external audit
Role:
The Cost Accounting Analyst plays a key role in strategic activities related to the client's component cost, including the unit
cost of all derivatives of product produced.
Main Responsibilities:
Component Cost Analysis
o Monthly analysis actual unit cost v budget (and v previous month) and analysis of all cost movements for all derivatives of product
o Monthly price, mix & volume analysis of the total component cost base
o Detailed analysis and understanding of profitability by model type, by destination, by derivative etc
o Analysis of costs at varying sets of exchange rate conditions and market conditions
Component Cost Forecasting
o Quarterly forecasting & annual budgeting of total component cost with detailed price, mix & volume analysis v target (and v previous budget).
o Mid / Long term forecasting & modelling of total component cost based on strategic factors
Liaison with key business areas (including Procurement, IT & colleagues overseas.)
Gain an expert understanding of the component base & supply base in order to best interpret the data analysis & turn it into management information for decision making
Prepare appropriate presentations to best explain complex data & information to various audiences within the business, including non-financial staff & Japanese staff
Keep abreast of economic conditions & simulate the impact on the client's component cost base
Support with the implementation of a new system
As a more senior member of the section, take an active role in the Management Accounting Section Review meetings and contribute to building teamwork across the department.
Support the Section Manager with any other projects or activities, as dictated by business requirements
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
Demonstrable experience of analysing & modelling large volumes of data
Sound understanding of accounting & finance,
CIMA qualification or equivalent would be desirable
Excellent numerical & analytical skills & attention to detail, a mathematical background & qualification would be desirable
Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to communicate effectively with non-financial staff
Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Office & other analytical tools)
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Excellent team player
