Job Description: CLIENT- Market leading testing and advisory service provider with corporate head office in Edinburgh with 111 sites globally, 40 of which are based in the UK and Ireland. This market leader invests in technology and facilities as well as s the development of strategic partnerships.
ROLE – Operational Finance Manager - Finance – Reporting to the European Financial Director and the Divisional Sector Director you will continually review the commercial aspects of the business and identify areas for improvement and increased efficiency. Effectively, this role will act as a lynch-pin between Finance and Operations, forging strong relations across the wider business.
Responsibilities:
•Identify key business areas with opportunity for rapid growth and / or cost saving possibilities
•Identify and implement working capital improvement plans
•Drive sector strategic plan for top line growth and optimal cost bases
•Lead change activity in the business ensuring benefits are delivered
•Challenge the business to overachieve versus budget based on continuous improvement
•Interpret financial performance of the business and drive resulting actions
•Manage the divisional capex and resource planning process
•Ultimate ownership of the balance sheet and P&L for area of responsibility, ensuring integrity of information at all times.
PERSON SPEC - higher weighting more important:-
•10 - Extensive work experience in commercial accounting roles, and hence solid technical accounting skills, showing good career progression
•10 - Cost control ownership for area of responsibility and Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives
•10 - Preparation of monthly report budget and forecasts, P&L and Capex forecasting and reporting accountability
•10 – Comfortable in generating and implementing annual operating and longer term financial strategic plans
•10 - Commercially focused mindset to work with business support units to improve the impact division has on the group.
•10 - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - articulate, persuasive/influential.
•9 - Personality – dynamic, accountable, team leader and team-player, influential, inclusive, change-oriented, well-organised multi-tasker, process-driven, but needs to see results, delivers to commits
•9 - Previous experience in a multinational organisation, with multi site European exposure
•9 - Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with degree in Accounting or Finance
•9 – Comfortable with up 40% travel, UK & EU.
