Job Description: Crohn's and Colitis UK aims to improve life for everyone affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), the most common forms being Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Together these conditions affect about 250,000 people in the United Kingdom. The charity brings together people of all ages who have been diagnosed with IBD, their families and the health professionals involved in their care.
Crohn's and Colitis UK NACC has over 30,000 members across the United Kingdom. There are 70 NACC Groups around the country, arranging educational and support meetings, publicity and fundraising. This is a new role.
In 2009 we celebrated our 30th year and all that the Association achieved to date. It was also a time to look forward to how we can continue to improve life for everyone affected by Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis.
We are ready to take our achievements and awareness raising to a new level in helping people with these conditions. Our celebrity supporters include Anastasia, Carrie Grant, Rick Parfitt and Jeff Hordley, all of which are active in their support. We are a small charity with a big heart and we are looking forward to welcoming an energetic and forward thinking manager who can lead our information and support team through an exciting period of growth.
You will be responsible for managing a team of three information officers and volunteers in the day to day running of the service. Your experience of relationship building will be put to good use as you will be dealing with service users, staff, volunteers, as well as being an Ambassador externally at conferences and events.
The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge and experience of working on helplines, be a confident line manager, and have enviable relationship development skills. Previous experience working within a health, medical, research or social issues organisation would be helpful.
