Job Description:  Our client is one of the UK's leading suppliers of gas and electricity to industrial, commercial and small to medium businesses. They are the market leaders in UK gas supply and have been supplying electricity since 2001. They are keen to hear from promising graduates with a desire to work in Risk Management. They would be appointed on a 12-month fixed term contract to take responsibility for the delivery of Gas and Electricity month-end MtM reports for forward revenue, cost and margin, manage and minimise operational risk on a portfolio of 1.5bn therms and assist the commercial team with the ongoing re-evaluation of the company's risk management regime. The Risk Analyst will create the base MtM forward position and calculation of forward demands, costs and revenues for finance, final valuation of MtM exposure, report on and reconcile the differences between month-end reports and develop key systems to improve the delivery of month-end reporting. They will also prepare ad-hoc forecasts of commercial revenues for both the budget and LTP, for both accrual depletion and MtM models. The Risk Analyst will also review the existing recovery regime within the business, evaluate future risk mitigation tools and develop risk premiums for sales, ensuring a balance between remaining competitive and recovering value. They will take charge of the power accrual on a monthly basis, minimise the shortfall between reported gross margin and actual billed revenue and forecast transportation costs and the impact on the future asset. Candidates must have a degree in a numerate or analytical discipline and possess excellent analytical ability. The role requires a strong working knowledge of risk management techniques and solutions available and whilst previous commercial experience, especially within the gas or electricity industries, would be desirable it is not necessarily essential. Good communication skills and especially the ability to translate technical arguments to non-technical audiences are vital
