Job Description: Sheltered Housing and Support Worker / Care Worker / Older People 1 x Clevedon - Part time (20 hours per week) 1 x Bath - Full Time £16,495 - Pro rata for part time Our client is a major housing association operating in the south and west of England. They are currently seeking 2 individuals to join them as Sheltered Housing and Support Workers, 1 to work full time at their Bath site and 1 to work part time at their Clevedon site. The main purpose of these roles is to provide housing related support services to people aged over 60 who are in need of support in order to sustain their accommodation. In a nutshell this role is support working with older people in a sheltered housing scheme. The main responsibilities include contacting residents to check their well-being and give advice and assistance, responding to emergency calls and coordinating the relevant services for response and being aware of the individual needs of each tenant with special reference to problems of increasing old age and ill-health. You will also be expected to carry out and record an assessment of residents housing, care and support needs in a support plan, ensure that all services within the scheme are operational reporting any repairs to the maintenance department and keep all emergency equipment in good operational order and ensure that all tenants are aware of emergency procedures for fire, flood and accidents. The successful candidate will have worked in a similar role previously and will have a good standard of education and willingness and commitment to studying for an NVQ or equivalent training. You will have an awareness of the needs of older people and people who are experiencing difficulties in sustaining their homes and living independently within the community. It is essential that you have a knowledge of housing law and care in the community legislation as well as the ability to undertake risk assessments and support planning in order to deliver a quality service to meet the needs of the individual. Friendly and personable, you will build rapport quickly with your tenants and you will communicate effectively across a wide range of agencies. Enthusiastic and eager, you will have a commitment to providing good customer service and you will be able to work effectively under pressure and in a crisis.
