Job Description: - The area: LegalIt's our team's job to inform and educate elected officials, regulators and other policy makers about our approach to the big public policy issues of day. Technology moves fast so it's important we spend time working with the people creating laws and rules & help them understand the issues we care about and which affect our users. Google touches a lot of public policy debates so we are looking for quick witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious people to join the team. To succeed here you'll need to be able to combine creativity with the organizational skills to manage numerous different projects to tight deadlines all at once, as well enjoy working with a wide range of policy makers. It's never quiet, never boring and things can happen pretty quickly - so you'll need to be a proactive self-starter who also is an enthusiastic team player. We have a healthy appetite for risk, so you'll always be ready to try new ways of doing things.The role: Policy Analyst, SEEMEAThe SEEMEA (Southern and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa) Policy Analyst will work closely with the SEEMEA Policy Director and wider policy team in this region to identify opportunities to promote Google's policy agenda, and to have Google engage positively in discussions around internet-related policy issues and themes. You will produce policy materials and research to support our policy work around the region and to inform the company's wider approach to policy issues and government relations in the region. In doing this, you will liaise closely with the Communications team and with policy colleagues in other regions globally. You will look for opportunities to organise meetings and events that enable Google to engage more deeply in the region and in local policy discussions, and help deliver these, and will support Executive visits in the region. You'll also do your fair share of administrative work, along with everyone else at Google. You will have a broad understanding of politics and international relations across the region, be a strong project manager and events coordinator. You will also have very strong written and verbal communications skills and a keen interest in the potential of technology to open up communication, provide access to information and free exchange of ideas across the region and enable local economic growth, particularly among the small business community. You should rapidly expect to take a more prominent role on some policy issuesResponsibilities:Complete detailed policy research and analysis.Identify and support key relationships across the region, particularly in academic, non-governmental organizations and policy-making community.Prepare management team presentations and strategy documents.Monitor public policy debates that affect Google and its users across the region and coordination with central team colleagues to provide supporting policy materials.Organise events and attend policy conferences and meetings.Requirements:BA/BS degree preferred with a strong academic record.A keen interest in the Internet and its potential to make the world a better place.Strong analytical and synthesis skills and a profound willingness to collaborate.Written and verbal fluency in English, and a second language from within the SEEMEA region.
