Job Description: We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer, with background of working with the consultants, manufactures of electrical equipment or design contractors specialised in the areas of HV & EHV Substations.
Detailed knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas is essential:-
- Preparation of technical specifications and design verifications for electrical equipment such as:-
- Gas Insulated Switchgear
- Air Insulated Switchgear
- Circuit Breakers
- Disconnectors
- Earthing Switch
- Surge Arrestors
- Current Transformers
- Capacitive Voltage Transformers
- Substation Busbar Arrangements
- Transformers/Reactors
- Power Cables
- Overhead Line Structures within substation
- Layout design of HV Substations up to 400kV
- Sizing calculations for Electrical Equipment
- Selection of Electrical Equipment and their Rating
- Calculation of Mechanical Forces on equipment
- Preparation of Bill of Materials for busbars, connectors, clamps, earthing materials, steel structures, cables, etc
- Current Transformer and Voltage Transformer Sizing
- Interface and coordination between equipments
- Checking physical interfaces between equipments
- Technical bid evaluations
- Interfacing and co-ordination with other Disciplines
- Familiarisation with International Standards
- Use of Microsoft office packages within office environment would be useful
- Preparation of Installation Method Statements in conjunction with equipment and client specifications and health and safety requirements, for the site works
Short-term travel may be involved in UK and overseas for equipment inspection and assistance with equipment installation and commissioning.
