Job Description: Transport Manager required to join a successful manufacturing company based in North Norfolk. Reporting to the Logistics Director, the Transport Manager will be responsible for the efficient and cost effective bulk transportation of 65,000 tonnes of finished product to UK customers plus 75,000 tonnes of raw product to the company's UK production sites. This will be achieved by utilising a fleet of 15 bulk vehicles plus use of sub-contracted haulage. The role responsibilities will include the ability to manage 17 drivers and two support staff to ensure effective and safe working. Manage fleet operations maximising output and cost efficiency. Negotiate the purchase, hire and disposal of all fleet vehicles. Negotiate the purchase of all fleet consumables and vehicle maintenance. Measure and report monthly transport performance against KPIs to the Logistics Director. Measure monthly vehicle profitability and calculate Performance Related Pay for drivers. Present an annual business plan / budget. Hold the operating licence. Establish and manage a network of third party haulage customers whose use of the fleet contributes profitable revenue. Negotiate rates with sub-contracted hauliers. Recruit and train replacement drivers and staff. Review and make recommendations for the improvement of all operational policy matters including purchase or hire decisions, safe working and management of customers' delivery requirements. Ensure fleet vehicles operate within UK / EU legislation. Keep up to date with changes to H&S, road transport legislation and industry news and developments. Manage and administrate 16 company cars and maintain records for car allowances. The successful Transport Manager will need to be very experienced in road haulage management with bulk vehicles. Courier Services or multi-drop parcel deliveries are not relevant and applications cannot, unfortunately, be considered. You will have experience working in a fast paced, dynamic commercial environment within a small, adaptable team. Knowledge of Excel and Word and preferably Road Transport Management systems will be needed There is an excellent base salary available in excess of £30,000 per annum with bonus schemes in operation which can boost earnings by up to 25% based on company performance. 25 days annual holiday
