Job Description:  Marketing Assistant

Main Purpose of the Job
To provide a professional and effective provision of support on a day to day basis for marketing activities and requirements within the department. To work with colleagues to market and promote the Client locally and nationally in order to maximise student recruitment and better communications.
Duties
* Assisting with the production of the Centre's Choices prospectus including compiling and inputting into design suggestions and approval.
* Liasing with internal colleagues and external business contacts as necessary with respect to all aspects of the Choices production.
* Co-ordinating the distribution of the Choices prospectus.
* Liaising closely with the Web Officer to ensure the co-ordination of the prospectus in print and web based format.
Other Publicity and Marketing
* Working proactively with key staff to maintain and develop marketing related materials so that they are up to date and engaging, and contain accurate information.
* Contributing to the identification and assessment of possible new marketing and publicity activities for the Centre.
* Assisting with the production of other publicity materials as requested.
* Creating and producing visual designs and suggestions for publicity material.
* Liaising with internal colleagues and external business contacts as necessary to ensure the production, delivery and distribution of such materials.
Web Related (non technical)
* Working proactively with key staff to maintain and develop priority website content that is up to date and engaging, and contains accurate information, authoring, where appropriate, information on relevant website pages.
* Inputting into the approving of visual designs for the web pages.
Event Organisation
* Assisting with the organisation of events.
Other Duties
* Assisting with market research exercises.
* Maintaining with the administration of specific initiative projects as they arise.
Person Specification
* Ability to communicate information that needs careful explanation or interpretation, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of people.
* Ability to explore customers needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.
* Ability to make independent and collaborative decisions, and provide advice to inform others decisions that have a moderate/significant impact.
* Excellent organisational skills, including evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities of own work and others, and monitoring progress.
* Ability to solve problems using initiative and creativity by identifying and proposing practical solutions and solving problems where there are a range of potential options available.
* Ability to work well and flexibly as an effective team member.
* A high degree of computer literacy, with a proven proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, email, the Internet and graphics packages such as Photoshop.
* An ability to work under pressure, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
* A flexible approach to achieving agreed objectives, with the ability to work outside designated office hours on occasion.
* Relevant experience in a marketing environment.
* Experience of developing, authoring and editing publicity and marketing materials.
Desirable Criteria
* A recognised qualification in marketing or related subject.
