Job Description: A major contractor is looking to appoint an Estimating Manager to be based in their central London office. As Estimating Manager you will be responsible for managing the production of cost estimates across the whole of Infrastructure Services, ensuring the prompt delivery to deadline and the accuracy and integrity of the estimates. In addition, to maintain and apply a pricing policy to the cost estimates to optimise the rate of successful bids, delivering the strategic growth aspirations of Infrastructure Services. You will be responsible for the compilation of all documentation relating to the production of the estimate/tender/quote submission documentation together with post contract variation evaluation where required. You will be accountable for the following: .all cost estimates not expected to exceed £1m, ensure the delivery to deadline in the region of £40m per annum of cost estimates. .To assist in the development, completion, submission and winning of tenders in excess of £1m where required. .To ensure the cost estimation function is resourced according to the requirements of Infrastructure Services business planning and strategic growth plans. .To positively influence construction safety performance and aims for zero accidents .To ensure the cost estimation process is supported by contract project managers or other technical resource as required. .To produce and issue contract estimation progress reports, bid success reports and to ensure full compliance with EEPW at all stages. .To effectively manage and develop a team of estimators, estimation administrators and third party contract estimators .To maintain effective communications with all participants and stakeholders in the bid process. .Take an active role in the local coaching of staff to ensure the development needs of both the individual and the business are met .Monitor the financial aspects of secured contracts with a view to maximising profits in future bids. .Develop the best practice use of Estim8 across the whole business, the scope of database rates, prices and job times held on the system, and the reporting of estimates through the system from a performance and financial perspective The successful candidate will have previous experience working as an Estimator in a management capacity. It is essential that you have in depth knowledge of HV/LV Electrical infrastructure experience. You will be expected to have experience in managing people in a dynamic and challenging business environment as well as have sufficient safety knowledge and skills in a technical and demanding working environment to ensure bids meet legal safety requirements.
