Job Description: Austin Fraser is the exclusive consultancy to appoint a Commerical and Finance Director to work for a cutting edge global manufacturer in Hampshire. Our client is a project-driven organisation, who employ over 20,000 people worldwide. The manufacturer is going through a significant amount of growth now and also has substantial plans for the future. The Commercial and Finance Director role has a strategic management focus and, as head of the Finance and Business Support Department will have over 20 direct reports.
A key element of the role is leading the development of business cases for the projects and there is often complex and equally significant involvement with the other business units globally. Some aspects of the role are likely to require the post holder to be involved in financial projects beyond the UK so will need to spend time in business units globally.
The company has a substantial composites department taking composites technology from prototyping and pre-production through to full production. As Commercial/Finance Director you will play an integral part of a team who are developing better, faster, more capable and agile composites manufacturing techniques for tomorrow’s technology.
The Department
The main responsibility and focus for this role and the reporting team is to secure continuous business development in-house and globally. Our client is looking for a Commercial/Finance Director who is seeking a challenging position, this position is very central in their large and rapidly growing organisation. As a result of their current growth, the amount as well as the variety of tasks within this function is expected to increase as the number of new projects grows continuously.
Responsibilities for the Commercial and Finance Director
Improving and implementing business controls to ensure Regulatory and Corporate compliance
Recognising strategic and operational risk and mitigation plans
Ensuring Strategic and Operating Business plans are aligned with Corporate Objectives
Driving the organisation towards the achievement of identified KPIs
Driving internal process efficiency and cost reduction initiatives, as well as the continuous improvement of our business processes e.g. stage-gate-models, general project governance and regular management reporting
Securing global alignment and compliance regarding process framework
Identifying and developing key relationships with Internal and External Stakeholders
Effective management and utilisation of Internal and External Professional Advisers
Developing and challenging the commercial aspects of Technology projects and securing alignment across the value chain
Keeping up to date with international developments of standards, solutions and processes within the company as well as the wind industry
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Accountancy qualification (ACA or ACCA)
Project-controlling experience, preferably from Research and Development environment, including knowledge of portfolio and resource management
Experience of working professionally in more than one country will be highly beneficially as there will be a lot of global interaction
