Job Description: Business Data Analyst (data / SQL) – Life and Pensions - Cheltenham Leading FTSE 100 consultancy firm with established clients across the public and private sector are urgently recruiting for an experienced Business Data Analyst (data / SQL) with solid data Migration project experience gained in the life and pensions industry. Work with the migration team to understand the current data volumes, formats and anomalies. Work with various source systems analysts to understand the underlying business systems functionality. Work with various business owners to understand and define their requirements. Undertake source system data analysis Investigate current production extracts as a source for populating and migrating data into the migration database Define data cleanup specifications and test results. Assist in the workshops, bringing target system expertise. Assist in review and sign-off specifications for the transformation specified by others Assist in the specifications for the reconciliation, control and sign-off procedures Undertake testing as directed by the Team Lead. Analyse exceptions resulting from testing the extract, transformation and load routines and provide solutions. Support various migration activities as directed. Reviewing the overall migration methodology for completeness and correctness, providing feedback for change. To work within the agreed CoE methodology and processes and maintain high level of quality. To aspire to high levels of migration and technical expertise To keep the Programme/Project Manager/team Leader regularly informed of progress, raising key issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner To understand risks, issues and dependencies relating to the work being undertaken To regularly evaluate actions taken to ensure success is measured, to build on success or to alter approach, if required To display an appropriate balance of people and technical skills To achieve, maintain and develop own competence To promote new and more effective ways of working to maximise effectiveness and cost efficiency. Essential Experience/Skills required for the position of Business Analyst / Data Analyst / Technical Analyst / Business Data Analyst / BA / Systems Analyst: Proven experience of Data Migration within Life & Pensions Industry, including: Data Analysis Data Mapping Specifications Life & Pensions products/legislation Audit & Reconciliation SQL Formal training in or experience of using structured data analysis techniques. MS Office suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills Prepared to work independently and as part of a team Good problem-solving, decision-making and judgement skills Must be willing and able to travel and work within the UK.
