Job Description: Technical Support Consultant - Bolton My market leading client are looking for a Technical Support Consultant (1st - 3rd Line Support) to work out of their Bolton based offices. You will work within the team, to ensure that IT Services achieve high levels of availability & reliability. Ideally they are looking for people with a mix of technical skills to include, Microsoft Server, VMware, Citrix, Networks, SQL Server etc (any Linux exposure would be beneficial). You will also be required to participate technical IT projects when these arise. Your main duties will include, Proving technical support & guidance to all customers & colleagues Provide VMware and Citrix support To have detailed knowledge of VMware and vSphere 4 operating systems and the ability to utilise and control DRS and other significant features. To have a thorough understanding of all the environmental systems operating within Hosting. (Air-conditioning, fire suppression, UPS and Diesel systems, access control etc). To participate as a member of the solver team assigned to resolve incidents emanating from the business via the Service Desk. To provide installation and implementation services for Microsoft based systems. To ensure that the level of Anti-virus software on the servers is kept up to date and that it is available in optimum form to protect against virus attacks. To ensure that daily disaster recovery backups are taken To ensure that the necessary tools and software are in place to aid in the recovery of servers that have failed. To ensure that the level of Anti-virus software on the servers is kept up to date and that it is available in optimum form to protect against virus attacks. They are looking for someone with the following, 3+ years relevant Microsoft systems experience. 3+ years relevant VMware ESX experience. Ideally qualified to MCP / MCSE standard Will have had experience of working in a Microsoft based services department. Will have detailed knowledge of Help Desk processes. Will be fully conversant with delivering a robust incident management service. To be experienced in the Network topologies including firewall, switches, load balancers an ids modules. They are looking for someone who is customer focused, with experience of providing advice and guidance to customers over the telephone, e-mail and Internet with a proven track record of service delivery as well as being an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with the ability of working within a demanding environment and be able to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving.
