Job Description: Our client are recognised as one of the world's leading automotive technology organisations and as a result of continued success and an ongoing program of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit a Principal Power Electronics Engineer in their established and highly successful Electrical Systems division. Tasked with providing expertise in the design and development of power electronics hardware and software for a range of engineering programmes, the successful candidate will undertake extensive electronics project work for a diverse range of clients whilst keeping abreast of future developments in the field of power electronics, in particular those areas relevant to the automotive and transportation industry. Working as part of a small team developing a range of electronic products, primarily those associated with a power electronics content, you will be responsible for the design, development and testing of both electronics circuitry and associated software, taking responsibility for technical decisions and working with minimum supervision, and liaising with both internal and external customers so exceptional communication skills are critical for the role. Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering and able to demonstrate at least 5 years experience of working within a power electronics environment such as automotive, rail or power generation, you will additionally possess proven experience in Medium to high power/voltage DC-DC converter design, Medium to high power/voltage inverter design or Motor drive design, and will be skilled in the use of circuit design software to produce electronic circuit schematics and PCB layout (e.g. OrCAD, Altium) and the use of circuit simulation software (e.g. Spice, PLECS) alongwith a good understanding of robust engineering practices such as FMEAs, Change Management, Design Reviews, etc. Additional experience in hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, high voltage safety training and embedded software programming using C/C++ and assembler will prove distinctly advantageous as would familiarity with Matlab / Simulink. Responsible for the design and development of power electronic circuitry, electronic circuit simulation and analysis, specification and selection of electronic components and the preparation of electronic schematics and associated PCB layouts, you will additionally perform testing and evaluation of electronic components, validation of electronic systems, preparation of FMEAs and design validation documentation and associated monitoring of project plans.
