Job Description: Job Title - Systems Engineer Location - Peterborough Salary: £32000 - £40000 Contract Type - Perm Sector - Engineering A recognised world leader in the design and manufacture of diesel engines is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their expanding team in Peterborough. As part of a technology leader in off-road machine and engine development they have access to resources of a leading global organisation. Last year companies invested over $1.4 billion in research and technology. As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for assessing engine and machine systems performance and control integration via simulation. This will be achieved through the use of commercial and in-house developed software and processes. Correlation work to compare analysis with test will be an important part of the role. Typical assessments include: engine transient response assessments within machine, after treatment control development and validation, engine performance optimisation. Your main responsibilities will include: * Whole engine and major engine systems modelling including working with customers to understand the issues and translating into a system model using 1D and Mean Value Model software techniques. * Performance and control system analysis. * Identification of new and improved engineering techniques by keeping abreast of methods development and software enhancements. * Report writing and preparation and presentation of project related presentation material (audience is tier 4 Final Leadership group). * Work effectively with customers to define requirements, deliver timely engineering guidance and prioritise a varied range or work. * Project management - responsibility for developing, and delivery against subsystem project plans. The ideal Systems Engineer will hold the following skills and experiences: * Degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics (or similar degree discipline) or equivalent experience. * Sound understanding of engine fundamentals, together with an appreciation of the related underlying theoretical principles. * Experience working both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment. * Strong performance or simulation technical skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively both verbally and in written form. * Knowledge of underlying theoretical principles of engine performance simulation. * Competent MS Office knowledge: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. * Ability to coach less-experienced engineers within the group. * Working knowledge of simulation software such as Matlab, Simulink and AMESIM relative to Internal Combustion engines. * Working knowledge of control principles for closed loop system control. * Knowledge of underlying theoretical principles of engine performance simulation. In return you will receive a salary of £32000 - £40000 depending on skills and experiences plus: * Participation in the Annual Bonus Scheme at 10% (subject to company performance) * 25 days Holiday entitlement pro rated * Entitlement to participate in Share Purchase Plan (with 50% Company matched contribution levels) and entry to the Company Defined Contribution Pension Scheme on start date * Relocation Allowance - Relocation policies exist for Renters and Homeowners. Criteria outlined in the policies must be met for the Company to offer relocation allowance to candidates
