Job Description: Also available in Gerrards Cross, Bucks on 12 month contract Position Summary: Primarily to lead the automation implementation, executing against the documented automation strategy to improve quality of software products. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of test and QA practices, concepts and procedures. Is open to novel, advanced technologies and relies on judgment and wide-ranging experience to plan and accomplish goals with engineering team(s). Exercises judgment in providing guidance regarding methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Assists and provides consultation to STEs in all aspects of the automated quality control process. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: *Responsible for design, implementation and execution of automated tests and tools for QA of the software product features. *Reviews, establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation as well as templates and improvement of processes. *Leads hands-on review of work produced by peer and junior Software Test Automation engineers *Sets up test environments, executes tests, records results and defects, and provides guidance and mentoring to developers to reproduce problems and get them resolved. *Works with project test lead to define how automation can contribute to major release/core functional areas. *Investigates and maintains timely and accurate reporting of test case results from automated activities. *Analyzes requirements. Creates plans to solve problems, providing estimates for resources and time. Executes to plan. *Maintains and drives continuous quality improvement in meeting internal and external customer requirements and maintaining awareness to meet ROI. *Helps establish severity and scope of defects to guide prioritization for resolution by Engineering. *Is an expert at applying the appropriate quality control tools to a requirement. *Incorporates broader test strategy into project workflow process. *Provides guidance and leadership to other engineers and management about functionality, efficacy and quality. *Leads others on prescribed software engineering and test processes and procedures. *Assists in the development of training for test and development on the correct usage of tools and procedures. Qualifications: *Expertise in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g. C, C#, C++), operating systems (e.g. Windows, *UNIX) and OS concepts. *Expertise in one or more relevant scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Powershell, Perl), automated systems administration and deployment concepts. *Demonstrated expert level knowledge in test methodologies, QA process, defect tracking, and software release cycle. *Thorough knowledge of software release procedures and software defect tracking. *Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate test methodologies including writing test plans and test cases. *Significant knowledge of Operating Systems and networking. *Experience with automated test tools. *Strong experience with test automation effort estimation and tracking and keeping teams on schedule. *Solid ability to lead others, provide guidance and mentoring, and set project priorities. Education/Training/Certification/Experience: *BS or MS degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field. For individuals *holding an advanced degree in one of these fields, additional years of formal education may be regarded as equivalent work experience. *Minimum 3+ years of directly related work experience.
