Job Description: Our client, based in Cambridgeshire is seeking a Software Engineer with a proven track record in full lifecycle, large scale PC software system design, implementation and maintenance and extensive experience of Microsoft Visual C . Candidates must have a good honours degree or higher degree in a physical science or engineering subject. The company designs and manufactures a wide range of automated motion control products for use in the Photonics industry. Many of their motion control systems are used in sophisticated third party integrated systems and offer flexible yet easy to use PC based software interfaces. They have a very active design and development program and are now seeking a talented and self driven Software Engineer to work on current and next generation software control solutions. They are looking for a proven track record in full lifecycle large scale PC software system design, implementation and sustain. More importantly, they are seeking a software developer with a scientific or engineering background who can demonstrate a strong understanding of the end applications using motion control and other PC based automation within the photonics industry. Requirements for the post include: ? A good honours degree or higher degree in a physical science or engineering subject ? Experience in developing control systems with PC based software interfaces ? Extensive experience of Microsoft Visual C ? Experience in using ATL and MFC frameworks ? Knowledge of developing ActiveX and .NET Components and Controls ? Experience in creating software function libraries ? Experience in Object Oriented programming techniques ? Knowledge of High speed serial communications buses such as USB Other skills that would be an advantage for this post include: ? Visual Basic 6, Visual Basic.NET, C#, Labview ? Embedded programming in C/assembler ? Knowledge of the photonics industry ? Integrated systems engineering ? High accuracy motion control solutions ?
