Job Description: Our client, based in Cambridge is seeking a Software Test Engineer with experience of testing embedded systems. Candidates must have a good degree in a relevant technical discipline. Main Purpose of the Job To ensure that the embedded software developed our client's wireless development team continues to meet the relevant requirements and high standards expected by their customers. It will typically involve working with software and hardware engineers as part of a multidisciplinary project team and will suit someone who is interested in new technology. The test role will cover all aspects of the test cycle from early definition phases through to field use. Type of work undertaken by division: Development of software for a wide range of wireless applications in areas such as telecommunications, healthcare, industrial and consumer goods. Specific Responsibilities You will be responsible for specifying and running tests and reporting the results to the Test Lead and Project Manager. You will provide the vital links between the Requirements Specification, the Test Specification and the finished product. As a project team member you will be responsible for carrying out your specific project tasks within the timescales and budgets agreed with your project managers. As your experience develops, you might wish to take on further responsibilities. Test engineers work on projects in multidisciplinary teams, sometimes on more than one concurrently. High quality work is essential from every team member. Minimum Requirements * Good degree in a relevant technical discipline * Relevant experience of testing embedded systems * Self starter * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to multitask * Excellent attention to detail * Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel / Word / PowerPoint etc) Desirable * Experience of scripting or writing code * ISEB foundation * Experience of SVN or other sourcing control systems * Experience of using a bug tracking database * Familiarity with various platforms (Windows/DOS) * Familiarity with prototype / evaluation hardware platforms
