Job Description: Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Design Engineer - CAD - PLCs - manufacturing techniques - bespoke remote handling equipment for the nuclear industry - based Malton, North Yorkshire - salary £27 - £37K pa We have an excellent opportunity for an electrical design engineer who is experienced in using CAD software and who has a strong degree in electrical engineering (or similar) to produce detail designs for a company which specialises in the design and production of bespoke remote handling equipment for the nuclear industry. Candidates for the position of Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Design Engineer will need to have had experience of PLC's and knowledge of manufacturing techniques and ISO9001 quality systems Experience in some or all of the following will be beneficial but not essential: * Autodesk AutoCAD LT & PLC programming software. * Low Voltage, EMC, Machinery & ATEX Directives * Working in a nuclear, chemical or heavy industrial environment Special interest will be shown to those who have obtained or are working towards chartered status The role of Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Design Engineer (Electrical Design) will entail the production of scheme designs, detail designs and manufacturing drawings using 2D CAD (Autodesk AutoCAD LT) for high value, low volume systems. Day to day duties of the Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Design Engineer will include: * Using innovative new and proven technologies to produce safe robust equipment designs. * Producing technical documentation to accompany the commissioned equipment and demonstrating compliance with relevant legislation. * Working as part of small multi-disciplinary design team on a number of projects simultaneously. * Producing specific project deliverables to agreed costs and timescales. * Interacting with clients throughout the lifecycle of each project * Attending technical meetings, design reviews and factory and, potentially, site commissioning activities. To undertake this you will need to be self motivated, conscientious and have a flexible attitude. The ability to lead a small team on occasion would be advantageous. This is an ideal opportunity for Engineers who are looking to enhance their skills on challenging and varied projects. The successful Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Design Engineer will be one can work semi-autonomously an d show a high attention to detail with a strong analytical approach Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills together with good team working skills would complete the package A full driving license is required OTJ specialises in engineering and engineering related positions.
