Job Description: Transport Supervisor required for a reactive busy manufacturing business in Bury St Edmunds. We are looking for a fast thinking individual who has proven experience of trouble shooting, implementing improvements and quickly providing solutions to rectify issues as they arise. Responsibilities: To generate and organise the transport load plan from production plans and customer demand To maximise the value per load to agreed target levels To determine the most effective multi drop delivery program by geographical area To provide an itemised schedule of loads - by driver, by trailer, by departure time, by arrival on site time To estimate journey times to enable trucks to leave the yard in time to arrive at customer site on time To manage the HTE drivers hours and take into account when planning loads To organise, raise Purchase Orders, check milages and clear/approve invoices for external hauliers To manage changes in the load plan to meet customers revised deliveries To communicate clearly with drivers, planners, loaders, Sales and customers regarding the planned deliveries ie, late out of yard, left offs, breakdowns, estimated time of arrival ....... To organise the service, repair and maintenance of HTE fleet of trucks and trailers To maximise 'back load' opportunity for fleet To record and report appropriate metrics to ensure transport is meeting/beating business targets To ensure all checklists are completed accurately, signed and dated and a copy sent with goods to customer To ensure all 'left offs' are reported appropriately and that suitable provision is made to deliver to site To arrange driver cover for holidays and sickness Manage drivers holidays Manage client relationship with External hauliers Liaise with drivers to ensure they are on site in sufficient time to leave as per schedule Enforce 72 hr rule ref shortages on deliveries Liaise with CPC holder to ensure fleet is road worthy and meets current legal requirements Issue weekly/daily instructions where to purchase fuel at most competitive rates. Continuously improve Kpi results in line with business objectives Hours of work will be 08.00 18.00 Monday to Friday with flexibility to the demands of the business.
