Job Description: Engineering Manager (Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing) Swindon £42,000 to £48,000 + Private Medical Insurance + Generous Pension + Life Assurance + 28 Days Holiday A vacancy has arisen at our clients Swindon Plant for a candidate who will lead, control and manage the activities of the Engineering team, ensuring that agreed business objectives are achieved. You will manage all customer and project-based engineering; you will be involved in metallurgical analysis, cost estimating, purchasing, budgeting, quality control and the preparation of technical documents for Quality Management Systems. You will be at least HNC qualified, will have 5 years plus experience in team and project management. You will also need knowledge of continuous improvement, tooling design and quality systems. This is a senior level role where you will report into the Plant Manager and will have Continuous Improvement Engineers and Applications Engineers reporting into you. The Role: * To manage the day-to-day running of the engineering teams within the Plant and associated budgets. * Installation of capital projects and management of their individual budgets. * To manage the introduction of new business work into the plant with direct customer contact and subsequent engineering work including tooling, samples, customer buy off, documentation and hand over to production. * Technical liaison and visits with customers during the development of their product. * Generation of capital proposals. * Production of technical documentation in order to pass information to Production and to ensure the Quality Control of the product. * Manage the introduction of new processes and procedures into the plant. * Technical support to Sales and Quality, including costing systems. * Supports the process of Continuous Improvement and 5s within the plant. * To fully support all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedure, to achieve Zero / Zero target. The Candidate: * Will be qualified at least to HND level. * At least five years experience of team and project management in any manufacturing industry. * Must demonstrate significant active involvement in Kaizan, LEAN, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement experience. * Will hold knowledge of tooling design. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with high energy and enthusiasm must be perceived as a leader. * Experience of quality systems preferably aerospace but automotive is a close second. * Computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project (or similar)
