Job Description: Demob Job Reference: J2283 Job Title: Technical Support Engineer - Steam Turbines Location: Bedfordshire Salary: Up to £40,000 + Benefits Start Date: Immediate Introduction: My client based in Bedfordshire, is a leading provider of engineering systems and ancillary equipment. Their products and systems are installed in the UK and overseas in a diverse range of sectors including the Power, Marine and Manufacturing industries. They now require a Technical Support Engineer to join their team. Reporting to the Principle Technical Support Engineer the successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for providing technical support to customers, internal contracts engineers and service engineers both in the UK and overseas. You will demonstrate excellent customer service by giving technical advice and problem solving efficiently. Although not essential, this may be well suited to candidates coming from an (ex military) background i.e. Army, Navy or Royal Air Force (RAF), particularly those with steam turbine experience. Responsibilities: - Provide technical advice and support to customers regarding the troubleshooting of steam turbines. - Liaise with internal departments and field service engineers regarding technical queries/problems. - Assist in on site commissioning and troubleshooting. - Use technical knowledge to the best of your ability to maximise every opportunity. - Provide guidance to customers and advise on the best possible solution. - Visit customer sites for troubleshooting as required. - To be conversant with, and comply with, the health and safety, environmental and quality requirements. - Provide effective training for customers as required. Applicant Requirements: - Must hold a minimum of HND in Mechanical Engineering. - Proven in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of the operation, Control & Instrumentation of steam turbines and their principles. - Proven background in a technical support role. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface at all levels. - Excellent customer service skills. - Great attention to detail. - IT Literate - including the use of MS Office. - Ability to work on own initiative and remain calm under pressure. - Team Player. - Highly organised. - Problem solving skills. - Pro-active approach to work. - Flexible approach to work.
