Job Description: CONFIDENTIAL Job Specification Engineering Manager Job ref: AZ/20166 Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 Location: North Shropshire / Cheshire Reports to: Site Operations Manager Responsible for: Engineering team, both day and shift personnel Liaison with: Operations Departments Suppliers / Contractors Accounts / HR H&S Officer External Safety & Environmental agencies Job Purpose: To plan and control all engineering activity and to establish a departmental strategy to ensure continuity of production To facilitate enhanced production efficiencies. Job Responsibilities: To ensure that a preventative maintenance plan is implemented to reduce production lost time due to machine breakdowns, and to facilitate enhanced production efficiencies. Provide full costings for engineering capex proposals, ensuring negotiation of competitive rates with suppliers. Deliver engineering capex projects on time and within agreed budgets. Liaise with contract stores operator (ERIKS) to determine business critical spares, and to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained. Agree departmental objectives with Site Operations Manager, setting and reviewing individual objectives as appropriate. Develop and agree a departmental budget on an annual basis, ensuring expenditure is monitored and controlled within budgeted levels. Monitor and control energy usage and where appropriate implement energy efficiency measures. Liaise with H&S Officer and external Safety Agencies as appropriate, to ensure machine, personnel and contractor safety. Co-ordinate the use of external contractors as required, ensuring site safety procedures are adhered to. To lead or participate in ad-hoc project teams as required. To undertake duties in accordance with key legislative requirements in Health & Safety and Employment Law. Qualifications HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline Degree level engineering qualification with an electrical / electronic bias. Skills and Knowledge Maintenance and Project Management. Process improvement Facilities management Working knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques Budget management Knowledge of relevant H&S legislative requirements Familiarity with software on extrusion systems Beneficial Experience Experience of working within a continuous process manufacturing environment. Experience of working within a plastics manufacturing environment.
