Job Description: Our client specialise in the design, development and implementation of automated warehouse and distribution solutions for supply throughout the UK and Europe, and as a result of an ongoing exercise to strengthen the Controls Division, a number of new permanent positions have been created for experienced and highly capable Controls Design Engineers to complement the established and successful team. Undertaking a range of duties allied to electrical and software design, engineering and project on site delivery, the successful candidate will interpret customer design input information to produce control system designs and manufacturing programmes as well as the production of all associated documentation (including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications). You will follow projects through from the design and production of electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools and perform the procurement of electrical control panels and electrical installation services whilst liaising with suppliers on technical matters, through to on-site installation, test and commissioning with occasional customer site visits in both the UK and Northern Europe. Additionally, you will perform a range of software design and development activities using Siemens S7 PLC software including the production of material flow specifications, designing, producing and testing conveyor control software as well as interfaces to external systems and following projects through to commissioning stages at various customer locations as well as creating the associated H&S documentation including Method Statements and Risk Assessments and conveyor system training for the end user. You will be responsible for liaising with all internal customers and project teams and for both the coordination of and consistent delivery of electrical hardware and software design activities, overseeing all aspects of budgetary and time restraints on projects and undertaking controls design reviews for relevant projects when required.
