Job Description:  Electromechanical / Mechatronics Engineer Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Permanent £28,000 - £35,000 and benefits package Our client is a global leader and renowned within their Engineering sector with a high focus on new and improved product development to maintain their market leading position. They are looking for a suitably qualified and Electromechanical Mechatronics Engineer for their New Product Development department. They have recently a world-class R&D centre which houses facilities such as; rapid prototyping, computational fluid dynamics and an impressive test facility together with a high level of investment in manufacturing facilities. Job Overview They are looking for an innovative Mechatronics Engineer for the integration of industrial electronics systems for a range of energy conservation products. The candidate will ideally be someone qualified to degree level - (or equivalent) in engineering Mechatronics discipline with knowledge of wireless, digital signal processing and electronics systems integration supported with relevant industrial experience. Successful applicants will be competent communicators with excellent interpersonal skills, proactive and well organised, able to manage conflicting priorities to deadline and be positive, customer-focused, ambassadors for the work of their department. Applicants should be aware that there will be the need for business travel, both in the UK and overseas, as required. This role is based in Cheltenham and offers an attractive remuneration package with a competitive salary and comprehensive range of benefits including company pension scheme, life insurance, private health care and a 12:30 p.m. finish on Friday. Key responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Development Engineer - Team Leader, the key tasks of this challenging role will include: New Product Design · Designing and developing new products as directed by the Product Development Manager. This will include functional, Electrical and mechanical design and testing to be introduced in accordance with company procedures. Designs may be factored or developed in house. · Managing nominated projects and for all other projects work as an effective team member. · Understanding current national and international standards relating to the design, construction, manufacture, inspection, testing and documentation applicable to such products. · All new products will be defined by means of a Product Specification provided by the Business Development function within the Product Management Department in liaison with the Product Development team. You will need to be conversant with and understand the technical and performance specifications required, identifying those that are key to success. · Assisting with the preparation of product specifications for new and modified products. This will require a full understanding of all the relevant technical requirements as well as an appreciation of the target markets. · Recommending and investigating, new or improved products originating from your own ideas. Implementation and Released Products · Providing technical support upon product implementation and up until hand over to the Value Stream team. · Investigating with the Value Stream Teams of any field or manufacturing problems to resolve the root cause. · Maintaining of product Technical Files, where appropriate, to allow easy retrieval of information. · Appraising proposed product modifications. If it is decided to introduce these then you will administer them in accordance with company procedures. You should target a 10-day turnaround to complete the assessment once the proposal has been identified to you. · Investigating quality concerns with products, ensuring that investigations begin immediately in order to find a solution in as short a possible time taking priority over other non-quality related issues.
