Job Description: The Policy Development Manager will deliver balanced policies that address the clinical needs of members and the commercial requirements of the business. They will also be responsible for the on-going planned development of new and existing healthcare policy and reactive policy development identified by queries Key Responsibilities
- Interfacing with clinical, medical, financial and marketing functions to source complex clinical, commercial, customer and competitor data
- Interpreting complex data and formulating policy recommendations supported by structured data and financial analysis
- Presenting policy recommendations in a structured format for review and approval
- Delivering policies that include member, clinical and commercial considerations
- Delivering on-going planned policy development – update of existing, and definition of new, policies, including commercial and clinical considerations
- Delivering reactive policy development – update of policies identified by continuous improvement, implementation and reactive queries
- Liaising with Policy Implementation team to ensure communication of policy changes into business operations and to members and providers and to develop associated coding and pricing and key stakeholders in the policy development process
- Communicating the status of outstanding policy development work and priorities.
- Educated to A-level in biomedical, scientific or mathematical disciplines
- Previous experience in policy development in the PMI or pharmaceutical industry
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload
- Good working knowledge of Bupa Healthcare policy
- Good knowledge of data sources for medical and clinical information and financial and competitor analysis
- Good problem solving and data analysis skills, including analysis of root causes
- Ability to source and interpret complex data from multiple sources to produce a structured recommendation
- Confidence with utilising your interpersonal skills with management at all levels
- Strong numerical written and verbal communication and organisational skills
- Work well as part of a team and manage own workload effectively
- Adaptable, flexible and proactive
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi task and prioritise with a high degree of energy, drive and enthusiasm
- High level of confidence in all Microsoft Office packages and an awareness of budget management.
