Job Description: Our Client is the UK-based subsidiary of a major International Defence Contractor that has developed strong capabilities in mission systems integration in defence, national security and commercial markets. The opportunity: We are looking for bright, enthusiastic and professional trainees to join our client's software engineering teams developing the state of the art Command and Communication program. The work will be varied and challenging and provides an opportunity to be part of an innovative and exciting programme as well as providing future personal growth and career development Required Skills: - Degree in Software Engineering or related discipline. - An understanding of software design and solution implementation. - Exposure to any of the following is desirable : Java/JEE, JavaScript (especially Dojo or JQuery), HTML, CSS, GWT, IDE, Hibernate and JUnit. - An understanding of UML to describe design and model technical solutions The role: The Trainee Software Engineer will: - Employ best practice object oriented skills to achieve design compliance with the software architecture - Design, Code and Unit test each software element developed. - Support the Integration, Test and Sell-Off of the product. - Support formal project meetings and working groups - candidates must be comfortable with collaborative working to develop an overall solution. - Maintain the technical content of documentation and standards of engineering work being performed on the programme within their technical control. Security Requirements - candidates should note that this role restricted to: - Sole British born nationals - Those who are citizens from EU or NATO countries or who are Indian citizens, but do not require a Visa to live in the UK - all candidates must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years - Other nationals who already hold a UK SC clearance.
