Job Description: CONFIDENTIAL Job Specification Polymer Technologist Job ref: FN/19886 Salary: - £30,000 - £40,000 Location: Warwickshire Qualifications: Degree in a Polymer or materials related qualification Reporting to: Technical Director Overview: This role has been created in order to assist in the enhancement of existing and development of new products. In addition, the successful person will support both manufacturing, sales staff and customers to resolve technical issues concerning products. This is a lab based post although travel to customer premises can be frequent. Experience In: * Polymer science, both research and production. * Plastics engineering technology and test. * Knowledge of film extrusion desirable. * Practical understanding of various methods of plastic processing, injection/blow/extrusion moulding - compounding/extrusion preferred. * Ability to discuss technical issues with clients and provide appropriate support. * Understanding of bio-degradable plastic materials would be an advantage. * Proven analytical skills. Personal Characteristics: * Ability to discuss and negotiate chemical/polymer engineering matters with suppliers, customers and government authorities. * Innovative approach to problem solving and product development. * Self motivated and able to work without supervision. Duties: * Develop new products based upon client and company specifications. * Testing and trialing of new and existing materials in order to enhance products. * Provide technical support to the commercial team. * Ability to troubleshoot technical issues/assist clients. * Keeping up to date records of work as required. * Travel is required and may be outside of the UK.
