Job Description: CONFIDENTIAL Job Specification CNC Operator/Setter Job ref: AZ/20105 Salary: £25,000 Location: Nottinghamshire Job Purpose To manufacture small to medium size plastic injection mould tools for the production of detailed components. Common Duties/functions in Tooling Dept. Ability to act upon written and verbal instructions from line manager/team leader. Ensure equipment and operations are maintained and carried out in line with H&S guidelines, and good housekeeping procedures are carried out. Completing all necessary documentation and communicating effectively across the tooling department and other areas of the business. Primary Role To produce work pieces to the required engineering and company standards. To learn the necessary skills to operate and carry out thorough programming of machines, and demonstrate these skills consistently. To produce effective cutter toolpaths using Cam software, for water holes, pad prep, modifications and pad roughing in the CNC area. To set up and operate machine tools accurately and in accordance with best practise procedures. Show the ability to select appropriate cutting tools and program the tools to the optimum settings. Show problem solving skills through own initiative and working within the team. Secondary Role Be able to carry out basic maintenance and housekeeping duties of machines and equipment in the CNC area. Ensure machine tools have their maintenance schedule, procedures carried out I.e. oil/coolant levels maintained, filters cleaned, spindle warm-up procedures adhered to. To be an effective team member in the CNC area, showing good communication skills, eager to help and contribute towards the CNC area achieving its production/quality targets. Detailed Tasks Operate machines with minimal supervision. Set up and use CNC m/c's to produce pads/inserts/electrodes to time and quality standards. Machine Bolster work, prep pads, water holes and rough out pads, also carry out modifications. Understand and be capable of programming with Cam software. Demonstrate how to apply it to jobs. Use appropriate cutting tools on machines and suitable feeds/speeds and cutting strategies. Manufacture work pieces to schedule, and to required quality standards. Demonstrate knowledge of inspection equipment in toolroom and calibration procedures on machine tools and their associated probes and tool setting equipment. Be able to reset a machine after a shutdown. Check and reset datum's. Reset Erowa pallet chucks. Have a recognised engineering qualification. (I.e. NVQ) or be trained by the company on equipment, software and methods used in the toolroom. Communicate with, and carry out instructions from trainers/mentors and team leaders. Train others. Work to schedules (priority list, coding schedule) and complete job documentation (tooling database). Understand and demonstrate company Health & Safety procedures. Basic computer skills.
