Job Description: Principal Materials Engineer - experience in an offshore oil and gas production industry - material selection - based either London (Kent) or Scotland (Aberdeen) - Salary: £50 - 100K according to experience We are looking for a Principal Materials Engineer with extensive experience in a Materials environment and relevant experience within the offshore oil and gas production industry to work in the team of an international independent company of engineers providing consultancy services to the subsea and offshore industry Candidates must have substantial experience in subsea engineering plus a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or science discipline engineering. Being a Chartered Engineer, member or fellow of an engineering institution would be a definite benefit Demonstrable experience in material selection and knowledge of relevant legislation and its offshore influences are essential as is the ability to use initiative and direct and guide other team members Candidates with a track record in pipelines (especially) CRA will be preferred In addition, all candidates should be able to offer one or more elements of specialisation such as * presenting technical courses * project management * Sales and customer relationship management * Using software such as MathCAD, Abaqus, Olga or Orcaflex * HSEQ knowledge and skills Day to day duties will include: Materials selection for green field design and brown field modifications Corrosion assessment and management Coating selection and rectification Preparing reports, datasheets and specifications to clients requirements Assisting in the preparation and communication of the quarterly and annual corrosion review reports Ensuring that material failure investigation and root cause analysis are carried out Revising inspection strategies with respect to related issues Inputting to and reviewing the companys course presentations Managing your own time, small teams and client interface Managing medium sized projects with client interface Writing and checking reports and procedures All candidates must have the right to work in UK and be able to write and speak English clearly and fluently You must also be IT-literate and have a current driving licence In addition to the attractive salary, the permanent position of Senior Subsea Pipeline Engineer attracts the following benefits: * Relocation expenses (if applicable) * Annual leave: 25 days' plus bank holidays plus further days for 3+ years' service * Funded training and personal development on technical, project and managerial career ladders * Sponsorship of professional membership * Group life and permanent health insurance (4 x salary) * EMI (share option) scheme OTJ specialises in engineering and engineering related positions.
