Job Description:  An exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer (electrical and controls) has arisen with one of our clients. Out client is a well recognised company and has an excellent reputation in within its industry This opportunity will suit someone who has determination and wants to grow in the company. Reporting to: Engineering manager Primary purpose: To support the build, test and commissioning of scientific instrumentation, both on –site and overseas. Key responsibilities: •Understanding and interpretation of engineering requirements •Ability to diagnose faults and produce sot-effective and appropriate design solutions •Willingness to travel at short notice to various global locations for periods of up to 2 weeks at a time •Lead the development of motion control and PLC programming procedures •Liaise with engineers to establish efficient, accurate testing procedures for all instrumentation •Liaison with engineers and technicians during design, manufacturing, assembly and test •Customer training in instrumentation &controls usage •Manage projects in terms of schedule, cost and quality •Preparing functional and design specification •Producing, checking and managing electrical designs for both wiring circuits diagrams and PLC programs •Prepare user manuals and “as-built” documentation- maintaining an accurate, up –to-date record of customer systems •Work within the company’s ISO 9001 quality system Essential skills: •Motor tuning and control, both stepper motors and DC servo systems. •PLC hardware selection, connectivity and usage for EPS. •PLC Programming of motion control systems. •Willingness to travel overseas. •Understanding and interpretation of engineering requirements. •Identification of cost-effective and appropriate design solutions. •Simple calculations and analysis to support designs. •Preparation of design and test specifications. •Identification and implementation of design standards and DO procedures. Guidance and training of other engineering and design staff in these processes. •Liaison with engineers and productions during design, manufacturing, assembly, test and commissioning. •Maintain awareness of new technologies, material and products, which might be relevant to beamline products. •Ability to generate and check electrical wiring drawings. Ideal Skills: •Knowledge of motion testing to micron precision. •Vacuum equipment knowledge. •Project management experience. Other Duties: •Manufacturing support. •Supplier development for electrical and electronics goods and services. •Support and assistance with electrical manufacture, assembly and system testing. •Support sales team during bid/ tender process.
