Job Description:  Our client, a West Yorkshire based engineering company are looking for a Materials, Planning and Logistics Planner. Your duties will include :- * To provide the logistics interface between Customer and the Company. * Dealing with any customer requirements are interpreted and invoked. * Analysis and input of customer demand from schedules and forecasts. * Monitor and maintain MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) signals. * To monitor stock and inventory movements to satisfy customer requirements. * Liaison with both internal and external customers to ensure delivery expectations are achieved. (including transportation issues) * To support the MP&L Manager and Logistic Manager to enable best practice manufacturing strategy & cost reduction activity. * Provide management reports for strategy development. * Support new product introduction with creation and maintenance of logistics static data. * To ensure customer requirements are interpreted and invoked whilst enabling manufacturing to reduce its cost base and control its stock movements. * Report any recommendations on static data settings to MP&L Manager. SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL: * Minimum of two years practical experience within a manufacturing planning role; * A basic knowledge & understanding of day to day operational activities & concepts, throughout the whole manufacturing process within an MRP II environment incorporating, MPS, CRP and Materials Scheduling; * People-management skills; * The ability to communicate at all levels throughout the business, with all internal and external customers; * Able to coach others in M, P & L issues; * Computer literate (working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access & Project). * Numerate & analytical; * Quality and continuous improvement initiatives (eg 5S). * Previous automotive experience. DESIRABLE: * Ideally educated to HNC / degree level, preferably in a manufacturing or business related subject. * Advantageous to have previous planning/scheduling experience PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND ABILITIES: * Good communication skills; * Excellent organisational and prioritising skills; * Methodical and able to co-ordinate work to meet time-scales and budgets; * Meticulous with an eye for detail yet able to see the broader picture; * Able to work on own initiative as well as in a team; * Able to persuade & influence others to adopt a common purpose; * To communicate, articulate & justify a business case; * Able to use initiative & organise others; * Effective decision making ability, self motivated & ambitious
