Job Description: JOB TITLE: New Tooling Engineer RESPONSIBLE TO: New Tooling Manager DEPARTMENT: New Tooling Project manage the procurement of Injection mould tools from Global market to support production in UK based manufacturing plant. Ensure that new tools are built to company Tooling Standards meeting quality and cycle time targets within given program timing and budgets. RESPONSIBILITIES Understand companys Tooling Standards and ensure they are adhered to with all new tools, and to update specifications, lessons learnt and new ways of working. Support in quoting process for initial FEP, and to create RFQ for tools. Participate in new project cross functional design reviews Ensure all tools are placed below budgeted cost (to include 10% profit margin) Build /Maintain relationships with toolmakers to ensure full support , and to ensure the toolmaker has all relevant information to deliver project on time, cost and quality. Travel to toolmakers facilities to participate in tool tryouts at toolmakers addressing all concerns. Planning and executing tool modifications (engineering changes, tooling enhancements and corrections) up to SOP +90 days, then hand over to manufacturing. Research and develop new technologies for Tooling and processing, to ensure competitiveness, quality and robustness. Track a report progress of projects on a Monthly basis Raise and Track Orders to Toolmakers for all work related to purchasing tools, modifications, and supporting customer needs Populate SDS documentation as justification for each gateway in SDS process. EDUCATION/TRAINING Engineering qualification / apprenticeship Project management Training (Prince 2) EXPERIENCE Previous injection mould tooling/ plastics experience Mould design experience Tool procurement process and procedures Work experience with Asian suppliers KNOWLEDGE Commercial awareness Practical moulding and process knowledge 2D CAD system awareness Latest tooling methods and techniques Moldflow awareness Awareness of Design and FEA tools SKILLS/ABILITIES Technical expertise PC literate PERSONALITY Team Player Organised OTHER Ability to travel both overseas & UK current UK Passport
