Job Description: Mechanical Design Engineer - oilfield downhole tools design and development - Autodesk Inventor - MathCAD - stress analysis - mechanical components - oilfield downhole tools - Oil & Gas Company - based Aberdeen - the attractive salary package is negotiable ( up to £40K) We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who is conversant with National and International standards related to Oilfield equipment to work on the design and development of new and existing tools and systems for a company that has a high profile in the exploration well testing and production/completion departments of the world's major oil & gas companies The ideal candidate will have an appropriate engineering or science degree (or equivalent) and experience of downhole tool design and development Experience in the area of downhole ball valves would be advantageous. Candidates should be proficient with using CAD applications (ideally Autodesk Inventor) and with MathCAD and MS Office applications; Experience with materials such as metals and elastomers is required as is experience with mechanical components and oilfield downhole tools You should be capable of doing stress analysis calculations and undertaking Project Engineering The successful applicant for the position of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Downhole Tool design) will work with a team of Mechanical Engineers and Draughtspeople who deal with all the mechanical aspects of the company's equipment and systems. The role will involve working on the design and development of new and existing tools and systems and generating and maintaining appropriate documentation to record the design and development phase. Supervision and mentoring of junior engineering staff will also be required Day to day duties will include: * Designing mechanical components and systems * Performing stress analysis calculations * Generating CAD models and drawings and procedures (assembly, test etc) * Generating test reports and checking and approving engineering documents * Project planning * Performing test build of new equipment and prototype testing * Advising on ordering of equipment for new tools and development work * Participating in design reviews * Supporting customers on technical queries * Maintaining design files & related documentation * Supporting operations at client sites (onshore and offshore) * Providing support and mentoring OTJ specialises in engineering and engineering related positions. We are currently looking for Project Managers and Engineers, designers, draughts people, Mechanical, electrical and Electronics Design engineers and draughts people, service engineers, sales engineers, avionics engineers and buyers All candidates should have the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK This vacancy is advertised by Otj Recruitment Ltd.
