Senior Electronics Technician Purpose of the Job To commission, maintain and troubleshoot the electronic systems used in internal testing of products and in deployed field trial units, and to provide electrical and wiring support to the testing team Key Accountabilities * Commissioning of the product electronic systems and generating commissioning documentation * Supporting the installation of micro-CHP units into field trial sites * Building, wiring and commissioning electro-mechanical component test rigs * Tracking and managing the revision level of the electronics hardware and software and updating systems as necessary * Troubleshooting problems with product electronics and operation * Supporting the system engineers with sensor and actuator operation and testing * Remote and in-field support of trial units Key Results Areas - to do * Product electronics is commissioned, supported and upgraded to ensure high levels of product operating up-time Page 2 Electronics Technician * Electro-mechanical test rigs are built to a high standard enabling the reliable gathering of high quality data * Field trial units are well installed and maintained so that the consumer satisfaction is high Internal & External Relationships Internal * Electronics Manager - regular updates on issues and risks * Product Test Team - working together on product commissioning and maintenance * Software team - tracking software release versions and upgrading software revisions * Field Trial Team - member of team * Electronics Applications Engineers - responsible for product electronics External * Field trial end customers * Electronics Suppliers Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: * HNC/HND qualified in an appropriate discipline (e.g. electronics) * Practical, hands on experience of troubleshooting electronics and instrumentation * Good wiring and soldering skills * Understanding of wiring diagrams and PCB schematics * Willing to travel (up to 2 days/week) * Full UK driving licence Desirable: * Experience with electronics used in domestic heating appliances * Experience of developing trouble-shooting guides Remuneration The ideal candidate will receive a competitive salary, together with a benefits package including excellent contributory pension, cycle to work scheme, life insurance, childcare voucher and share save scheme.
