We are a speiclaist recruitment agency and we are currently recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant for our client based in Swindon.
The Assistant Management Accountant
The Accounting & Finance Department has responsibility for managing all aspects of the client's Cost & Profitability. The Department is split into 3 key areas, as follows:
Operations
Responsible for day to day accounting operations, including processing all invoices, expenses & payments
Management Accounting
Responsible for all aspects of management accounting, including month end accounting, management reporting,
budgeting & forecasting, mid-term planning and providing expert support to the business for all cost related activities.
Areas covered are product pricing, cost accounting, in-house cost management, investment appraisal & asset
management, inventory management and warranty costing)
Financial Accounting
Responsible for all aspects of financial governance & compliance and internal & external audit
Role:
The Management Accounting Coordinator plays a key role in daily management accounting activities, particularly those
related to month end accounting & budget preparation
Main Responsibilities:
Month end accounting to strict deadlines
Preparation, posting & reconciliation of all month end accounting transactions & accruals related to management accounting, including payroll costs, utilities, property rates, insurance, general accruals & prepayments
Preparation of monthly data analysis of actual result v budget / forecast and trend analysis.
Preparation of monthly Management Reporting information for publication at various management levels within the business
Maintenance of investment registers (Fixed Asset
Register & Construction in Progress Register), and processing of all asset related transactions. Close liaison with other members of the team to ensure that Investment situation is fully understood.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Maintenance of the budgeting system, including uploading key data such as working days, production plans & pay rates and maintaining access rights & security
Liaising with cost controllers in the business to provide support during the budget period
Analysis of budget data v target / previous budget, which involves manipulating data in excel and other Microsoft
& Hyperion analytical tools
Carry out all transactional activities in accordance with the regulatory framework, to include Accounting
Standards and Sarbanes Oxley. Liaise with external auditors where appropriate.
Gain an understanding of HUM s operation and cost structure
Take an active role in Section Review meetings and contribute to building teamwork across the department.
Support the Section Manager with any other projects or activities, as dictated by business requirements
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
Previous experience within a Management
Accounting function within a Manufacturing environment is desirable, but not essential
Accounting / Business related Degree or AAT
Qualification or CIMA student or equivalent
Excellent PC skills (MS Office)
Strong numerical & analytical skills with attention to detail
Strong communication skills, especially the ability to communicate effectively with non-financial staff
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Excellent team player
