Transport Team Leader X 6 / Supervisor - up to £24K ( depending on experience ) with benefits - Helensburgh
ROLE Reporting to: Transport and Distribution Manager
The Team Leader will be an experienced "Change Manager" who can manage and support the team to deliver key task objectives, build the capability of the team and develop individuals within the team in line with business needs
Responsibilities
The Team Leader will support the team to deliver key task objectives, build the capability of the team and develop individuals within the team in line with business needs.
Ensure the customer work task (plans/schedules/KPI's etc) is communicated to the team and delivered to specification.
Ensure the resources e.g. people/material/equipment time are available to enable the team to deliver on-time, to budget and to the appropriate quality standard in line with customer/business requirements.
Motivate the team and its members to consistently deliver its goals and to identify and improve core processes.
Support the team in developing agreed performance metrics which will enable both the Team Leader and the team to identify and achieve performance improvement targets.
Engage and develop with the team a vision of a self-supporting team which will take accountability for them delivering their performance.
Promote and execute within the team an ethos of safe working in line with Health, Safety, Environmental, Nuclear and Weapons policy and regulatory requirements.
Ensure effective key communication is undertaken which clearly highlights business issues and matters which affect Babcock Naval Services and HMNB Clyde generally.
Implement a leadership process of support and challenge within the team which ensures consistency and transparency in dealing with people and performance issues.
Prepare through team involvement a training development plan which ensures optimum flexibility and competence in line with national/industry standards.
Responsible for allocating motor transport resources to meet customer, emergency and Nuclear Accident Response Organisation (NARO) requirements.
Responsible for ensuring compliance of transport regulations.
Deliver a range of freight and transport related training as required.
Responsible for managing warehouse staff during silent hours.
Responsible for security of General Purpose Support Store (GPSS) during silent hours.
Responsible for notifying Duty Services Officer (DSO) of motor transport tasks during silent hours.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in a shift roster.
PERSON SPEC- higher weighting more important
10 Min 3+ years Supervisory/management experience within a transport/distribution environment
10- Experienced "change manager" can give specific examples of implementing and leading in a continuously changing environment - will confidently challenge the Status Quo
10 Customer focus meeting and exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
10 - High levels of drive for results, motivational tactics, and use of performance management for direct team
10 - Proven record of developing direct reports and other members of extended team
10 Strong organization and analytical skills, with experience of resource and equipment planning
10 Character bright, Enthusiastic, tenacious, positive, innovative & creative
10 - LNAPC ( Local nuclear Accident procedures Course )
9 IT skills Microsoft packages, Word, excel, PowerPoint etc
9 - Strong interpersonal skills good customer service understanding
9 - Good communicator (oral and written), comfortable interfacing at all levels
