Job Description
FACILITY SAFETY CASE ENGINEER - Up to £29K with benefits – West of Scotland - Helensburgh
Reporting initially to the Site Safety Justification Manager, these new posts form a key part of the company's drive to integrate the new SSN Berths into the HMNB Clyde Nuclear Site Safety Justification focusing on vessel activities.
Role:
• Supporting the integration of new SSN Berths' Facility and systems safety justification into the current Site arrangements at HMNB Clyde.
• Maintaining professional interfaces between Project stakeholders, identifying, managing and resolving possible problems.
• Being the focal point to receive the new Berth's POSR and safety justification documentation to support Facility operations.
• Researching and possessing a strong working knowledge of the design substantiation to support operations on the Authorised Site.
• Managing the future Facility Safety Case, liaising with Facility/Utility Operators and supporting Site Safety Justification Manager in the development and maintenance of a fully justified and compliant Nuclear Site Safety Justification.
Qualifications/Experience:
10 - Knowledge of nuclear and radiological safety of SSN operations within Authorised Site / Licensed Site arrangements
10 - Practical experience of nuclear justification requirements and development of safety cases
10 - Analytical – able to use evidence to support justifications
10 - Excellent written and verbal communication – able to communicate and influence safety arguments
9 – Good technical knowledge of NSRP systems and operations
9 - Experience of NSSJ documentation and Safety Management processes.
9 - Effective time manager- can plan, prioritise and measure self performance
9 - Problem Solver - can simplify and apply logical/methodical methods
9 - Organisational Agility - Multi-tasker effective and efficient
8 - Recognised professional engineering degree or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
8 - Understanding of modern Site Safety Justification requirements.
8 – Experience in the use of PRA/PSA or HAZOP to support safety arguments
